Has anyone personally captured a Cockroach in Durotar on Retail (The War Within/Midnight)? I’ve farmed the watchtower location for over an hour, PetTracker still shows the spawn, but I’ve never seen one
I don’t know. I have a Cockroach, but it’s so long ago that I have no idea where I got it.
I will say that on one hand, WarcraftPets shows Cockroach as available at one spot in Durotar:

If you click through to Location → Durotar, the spot is at map co-ordinates 50, 40.6 which I think is the watchtower location you mean.
Wowhead agrees:

But Durotar is phased, and different phases may have the Cockroach or not, so it may depend on your character’s progression status.
Both agree that there are many other places to find Cockroach, so you can pick it up elsewhere rather than doing an extended camp or trying to explore phases on different characters.
I suspect you are a returner on a new account? Do you need any tips or ideas for building a roster or levelling your pets fast?

WowHead indicates that the Icecrown zone in Wrath of the Lich King is overrun with the vermin* (193 spawn points, rather than the comparatively health-department compliant 3 spawn points in Durotar).
Durotar is a self-inflicted hard mode, given the paucity of spawns and the absurd variety of phasing changes.
*I have three and have used them to great effect in several teams.

I played before a long time ago, but I am returning with little knowledge of the game still. I was just going through trying to collect everything that was around me, and didnt even think to look if it was more common in other places. Thank you for your indepth response! Its very appriciated

If you have a level 70 character, you can get three pets to 25 very quicky with Approach 5; if not, some of the other approaches may be useful.
