Blizzard, would you mind doing something about this to make this mount actually worth farming? It’s magnitudes lower drop chance than any other mount or cosmetic coming from a rare. This can’t be intended, and I hope it’s something you can address while the content is current.

Well they did something about it. Now you only get 1/5 as many attempts at that 0.08% drop chance!
I must say, as someone that was once a diehard mount collector, i find it so liberating to not care about this stuff anymore, i didn’t even know this rare/mount existed until reading this thread just now lol
That whole surveyor set is at 0.02%.
For WoWHead stats to be accurate, every player would need to regularly upload data to the site.
I’ve heard the event helps with collecting baubles for the igenous shalewing-- no wait, wrong shalewing mount! Sorry!

Their sample size is usually big enough that we can assume their stats are fairly accurate. They’ve only recorded 5 drops of this mount so the margin of error is relatively high, but it’s still only about .07%, so at best the drop rate is about double.
Don’t worry, they increased the drop rate when they made it a 1 every 5 day drop chance.
So that 0.08% chance is probably now likely a 0.16% chance!
Well… did they? After they changed the lockout, the announced “loot compensation” wasn’t there initially, right?
They said they did, but from my attempts to get the drake manuals I’m still missing this week I’m skeptical.
No one here can source 100% data accuracy. Only Blizz can do that themselves. So the next best thing is Wowhead data plus the main mounts section of the wow secrets discord. Based on my perusal of both these sources, it seems fairly accurate to say that the drop rate on this particular rare is definitely lower than previous open world mount rares. Definitely not MoP WB pre-buff drop rate level, but its increasingly looking like it’s somewhere in the vicinity of 0.1-1%. Whereas usually such rares have drop rates closer to 1-5%.
I haven’t even seen an increase in drake fragments or flightstones from the rares. I get the same 1 fragment and 10-12 flightstones. I don’t think anything has increased at all. The entire 4 day lockout thing is such a bizarre fail on Blizzard’s part. It just makes people want to avoid the zone entirely… which is insane considering it is the zone we’re supposed to be in.
I don’t think they buffed rewards at all… unless a blue can confirm. Its just a nerf to how much loot you can get it feels like.
