Cobalt assembly is a weird reputation to require, especially when rep isn’t gained the same way as literally any other rep.
Can we change it to rep on kill?

I did the rep in two days recently, it isn’t a big deal.
Also get the faster loot addon.
Make sure you buy the Cobalt Assembly upgrade that increases rep gains by 30%. It’s available from a vendor right beside the Cobalt Assembly Quartermaster.
It really isn’t that bad to do if you just join a group.
I can’t decide if cobalt was less fun than turning in 30 keys or killing so many mobs in the storms. The more I think about the more i realize just how boring most of the content in dragon flight is.
The only downside is that farming this rep in short sessions isn’t very effective. It’s faster if you dedicate a few consecutive hours to it. Your character gets so strong that it becomes effortless.
I think it’s fine, though. Rep on kill or from the tokens the mobs drop doesn’t make much of a difference, I feel.
Kinda agree, everyone else seems to feel it’s one of WoWs best xpacks but it fell flat for me in a lot of ways.
Sure we got new content consistently, but most of that content was “now go mass AoE mobs again but in a different zone”
Cobalt is definitely less fun than turning in 30 keys that goes really fast now.
I did most of the grind at launch. Finally finished the last bar over the course of a couple days. Was going at a good pace solo until I just stopped seeing the choice from orbs to reset the duration of my powers and lost all the stacks of the my secondary stat boosts. Gave up for the day then. Went back and finished it during an Elemental Storm. Was the only one I had left to do since I did the Wrathion and Sabellion grinds at launch, got Soridormi done getting all the collectibles (except the stupid Felpuppy cosmetic because RNGesus hates me), so now it’s finish up Dragon Races.
Ignored it for the past 2 years, didn’t you.
I noticed that I never get more than one rep item in one looting, so I suspect that it is better to loot continually as you kill so that you don’t miss out on any rep gains in case the game is munching any rep item drops beyond one at at time.
Yup, that’s the one thing I’d fix with this rep. If you could multi-loot the rep tokens, it’d probably go twice as fast. I made sure to loot as fast as possible in groups, but still missed out on some tokens.
I grinded this rep a couple weeks ago, and thought it was gonna be bad, but it only took a couple hours. I had 2/5 just playing from release, and getting to 4/5 took about an hour. The last bar was 3 times as long, so that took about another hour to get 5/5.
The rep items stack - if you get, say, 3 green +15 rep tokens from 3 mobs you that kill then on loot you’ll get a blue +45 rep token.
After a big pack it wasn’t uncommon for me to get +120 rep or larger.
Yeah this rep is more grindy than any other for no real reason or benefit. Especially since the rewards are only useful in TW at this point.
It was a neat way to level at the start of the expac, but rather pointless now since it doesn’t even really have any story attached to it either. It’s really nothing more than a time sink. And not even a well designed one.
cobalt assembly is one of the easier reps, all things considered.
its just mind numbing.
Out of all of the rep grinds I have done I hate this one the most.
I grinded rings early in the expansion for several chars, made this easy to finish. If you start from 0 or ignored it yeah it’s not gonna be enjoyable.
Pro tip is always try and grind stuff when there are relevant rewards available. Otherwise yeah it sucks grinding a rep to access some cosmetics and a few 392ish rings
