Yup. I did the same thing. It was my first time and I thought it would auto update to tier. Was so confusing. So frustrated, I logged out and just can’t get myself to log back in.

I know the pain. Im not a regular player. Got pretty much try hard end game. I cant imagine how messy this system will be to casual players.

Pretty sure the wording was something like “non-tier items” will be able to turn into tier peices sooo that in itself was misleading also the fact that people have to change their legendaries around to also get the set powers really is a waste of time. It should be that any gear and any peice of gear should be able to be upgraded with the Tier set power perk. It’s not like this and thats where you have to ask questions. Then you have people that dont read forums or outside websites because it’s just not how one naturally plays a game. It’s ridiculous how a player needs to have dual screen set ups and then some kind of Google alert on their phones to let them know when blue posts are born. Lol.

If there is a way to put a booby trap into the system to result in low information players making unrecoverable mistakes, they will implement it.
There should be a popup that gives players two buttons to select when they try to use this: “Create Tier” and “Create Transmog”. If they select “Create Tier” for a piece that cannot be turned into tier, they should get an error message that this operation cannot be completed because this piece cannot be made into tier.
It’s actually pretty simple. But they designed it the way they did to screw with casuals.

Wait, what happens when you try and upgrade something that doesn’t turn into tier gear? Does the tool tip show you the item with tier set bonuses on it?
Didn’t look closely at this because I’m at 0, so no need to rush it until next week, but I don’t think I had an option to even try it on anything that wouldn’t turn into tier gear.
No you really can’t. Not when the tier pieces specifically say which slots give you the bonus and Blizz specifically says what slots give the bonus and a decade of tier gear establishes what slots gave the bonus. 
To finish the outfit and reforge stats. Why couldn’t you look at the tier pieces and read which ones gave the bonus?
The blue posts on this website ARE official source. And they specifically told you what slots create tier.

The screen specifically shows you what you’re getting. The loot table in game specifically shows you which pieces have set bonuses.
The wording was specific about which slots carry the set bonus.
Of course not. It just shows you the piece that matches the set with those specific stats on it. There’s no set bonus.

Maybe learn to pay attention before clicking away lol. Just because something can be used to make tier doesn’t mean it’s only used to make tier lol. No one is making fun of you from customer support nice try. Saying things like that and then calling all of us rejects lol what a world we live in

All the people saying “you should have read up on it” don’t understand that a game should have everything you need to know about the system built into the game, as an explanation or quest.
You shouldn’t need to read up on a feature in a game to be able to use it properly.
I haven’t used this system yet but I’m seeing lots of complaints.

Thallia, we get it… you understand it. Ok Ok… some of us dont have time to read every blue post and made a mistake. It does happen. and clearly it has happened to MANY people so it isnt an anomaly.
We get you can link all the evidence of what we should have understood, but it doesn’t change that we still didn’t understand. Just cool it.

OK, but if they’re part of the tier set, why not make them part of the tier set and count towards piece count?
