I do not know much about Tailoring lore. None of my tailors were very serious. If I had a character who was a tailor, it was only to learn the flying carpets or to pump out Hexweave Bags. I know professions have quests dating from the release of the game through to now, and I ignored most of the ones I could.
Having said that… Garrisons require sumptuous fur to produce hexweave. And players use Gorgrond Flytrap and sumptuous fur for their daily hexweave cd. That would cover the WoD era.
I know in Legion, tailoring had some quests that were focused on learning Suramar’s techniques and acquiring their materials. That covers the Legion era.

Anything with “linen,” “wool,” or “silk” in its name comes from plant fibers, animal fur, or insect cocoons respectively. That takes care of Linen, Wool, Silk, Embersilk, Windwool, Imperial Silk, Shal’dorei Silk, Tidespray Linen, and Deep Sea Satin (satin is silk woven in a specific way).
Things like Mageweave are a little less obvious—it’s presumably one of the other types of cloth with magic incorporated into the weaving process, but we have no indication as to which one it might be.
There’s a silk farm in Valley of the Four winds. Farms of various types all over Azeroth.
