simple question, which cloth class/spec attacks the fastest? i like playing fast-hitting classes, but wanna play a clothie, which class/spec should i go with if i wanna hit fast and hard?
… and when i say fast and hard, i mean like fury warriors, ww monks, demon-hunters, bm/survival hunters, classes that hit instantly or almost-instantly.
Fire Mage.
Well you aren’t going to have an instant hit overall for most of your casters, because, they’re casters. But Frost/Fire Mage, Destro Lock, and Ele Sham would be your best bet imo.
Without a doubt…Arcane Mage.
3 button rotation, You gain Arcane Missels at level 13 and at that point you kill very fast.
You can use 3 buttons all the way to 60.
Elemental Shaman with Storm Elemental is the fastest rotation.
But that’s a burst window.
The new tier set will amplify this burst window though.
Outside of that it’s definitely going to be a Mage spec.
I have memories of Frost being very fast paced, but Fire Mage is probably slightly higher APM due to fact that you weave Fire Blasts in whilst casting other stuff.
I wouldn’t say Arcane Mage. Arcane Missiles is a channel, you’re not actively doing anything during that time even though it does tick fast on your screen.
Arcane mages win for the short game
Fire mage especially with Sun King’s Blessing legendary is high CPM for a ranged. It requires DDR like timing with casting sequences like double pyro which involves spell queueing. With that said it is a finesse based rotation as opposed to mashing.
I was raiding with a good frost mage recently even though I had more CPM than them which frost is known for it is way more work to do the same amount of damage because you have to keep track of infernal cascade, farming SKB stacks for mini-combust, pooling your resources like fire blast and phoenix flame charges for your main combust and the SKB version, etc.
While pyroblasts in combustion hit hard they don’t compare to the six digit crits you get from speccing arcane. However arcane is a way slower style of play compared to fire CPM wise.
Looking at SIMC Arcane/Demonology/Frost and Shadow are actually tied at the same APM for optimal DPS.
So you’re in luck you’ve got one from each cloth class. Pick your preference.
None will match the APM levels of a Fury/Outlaw/Havoc due to the inherent nature of being a caster.

But be prepared to take a lot of snack breaks. On the up, I create my own snacks so you don’t need to pack any.
I guess you can dress your shammie in cloth… mine will wear scale mail.
I’d say none of the clothes hit hard and fast… mages, priests and warlocks, all casters, all squishie… playable, fun, yes… fast no.
