Not really. Unless they enforce server caps no one was rolling there.
Don’t care about that tbh, just referring to yourself as wise and correct. Typically you want those praises to come from others, not a good look.
True, and in that event. They can link low pop realms together via sharding.
They must never allow a mega server to exist again or it will continue to be a disaster on the playerbase
People are not quitting Wrath in anywhere near the numbers they quit in TBC. It’s so much more casual friendly in every way.
Parse lords will be the minority.
I really am not one who cares for praise. I respect your take on it though.
very true, i highly doubt they would ever implement it, i wish they would tho.
It might be the answer for specific realms to split them up and bind them w CRZ. Plenty would be mad but I don’t know what is worse.
people will still quit in large numbers, some people don’t want to raid, or play after they hit max level. Hell large numbers of people quit in vanilla classic when BWL came out because they didn’t feel like doing any more raiding
The issue isn’t the players, its Blizzard. A few servers were not mega servers UNTIL Blizzard opened up FREE transfers to them. Grobbulus was one of the few normally populated/balanced servers. Then they opened up free transfers to one of the only faction balanced PvP realms in the entire region. Now we get 30 min ques at 10 am in the morning, 7 hour ques at 5pm. Even then, Blizzard could fix all the issues within a matter of days if they truly wanted to. Que times? Easily fixable. Faction imbalance? Easily fixable. Dead servers? Easily fixable. The issue is all of these things aren’t on their to do list because this isn’t what makes them tons of money - they focus more on things like Diablo Immortal and trying to get randoms to drop 50-100k just gearing up one character.
Yeah Classic isn’t a shadow of Wrath. Classes were largely not functional, there were no dailies etc to do at max level. So many QoL additions by Wrath that there is value in slowly improving your character. Literally nothing to do in Classic but raid log and save your precious world buffs.
Also, most players started in Wrath…it’s home to them.
Oh I agree. Blizzard caused it.
But they are the ones that now have to fix it.
there will still be large numbers of people who go “well that’s enough for me” and quit, or their guild implodes and they don’t want to find a new one, or another game comes out and they go play that instead.
Most casual players are casual with their loyalty to a game
What’s your fix for queue issues? Servers have a capacity, layering doesn’t add capacity it only divides people so they can have access to mobs, etc.
That is just it though, they won’t. If they do they will take their sweet time and come up with a solution near opposite of what players want.
Well, I’m hoping they see this thread and consider it or any other idea posted in here that is good.
That said, I’m goin to sit in queue and take a nap.
Well thats because it hasnt even started yet lol
You do realize Blizzard changed their dedicated servers into a cloud server system technology a while ago right? They did it to save money. With that save in money comes mass amounts of lag when there are too many players trying to play. They do a lot of things to save money, imagine if they dedicated that money to maybe going back to dedicated servers and fixing all the lag that comes with their paying customers trying to play their game. I also don’t have a solution to increase server capacity, as I am not being paid tons of money to do so. If I was and I cared about my job and was any good at it, I am sure I could find a solution, that costs extra money outside of what they’re willing to spend on World of Warcraft.
There has been lag in WoW w players concentrated in areas since Vanilla. That’s not new and likely not affected by new technology, which you would expect to help not hurt performance w 15 year newer options. Servers can hold several times more players than they did in Vanilla.
At some point you hit capacity. Final Fantasy literally had to stop selling their game when they were overwhelmed w new subs.
A quick search shows Classic servers maintain 800k yearly and have jumped to over 1 mill with wrath release. FF14 ARR has 3.4 million concurrent players, triple what Wrath classic has. Not to mention their game has housing, much more intensive graphics, much more intensive skills with animations putting WoW’s to shame. Yet here we are
FFXIV lags like crazy too, most MMOs do when there’s lots of people together
