Cloning Cost - what would you pay? (Not $35! $15 ok!)

Blizzard sent out another survey:

One of the questions asked your likelihood to use the Cloning service at various price points (ranging from $9.99 to $39.99).

What are your thoughts? At $10, I probably would use this on a few toons. At a higher price point (even $15), I think I would just pass on cloning altogether.

A bulk cost per account/realm (say $50) would be nice but Blizzard has never offered a bulk service before.

What would the rest of you pay?

Edit: They announced it would be $35. LMAO. Just ridiculous.
Edit: Down to $15. A fair compromise.

5-10 USD?

I think That’s where it’ll land.

I’d consider cloning a toon or 2 if it’s $10.

When it comes to boksting a tokn, $20… Maybe $30… But even then, i probably won’t. I don’t mind leveling alts.

I am cloning up to four characters but have a budget so the price will decide how many I do.

I’d pay $10 maximum. It’s copying a digital file, it’s not like it costs blizzard much more than a few pennies

To charge 39.99 is just ridiculous and greedy

$10. Honestly, shouldn’t have to do that. That’s kinda crappy of them since they have already said they are making the copy of the character and this “cloning” is just unlocking it. It’s complete Tauren Turds.

Zero. I enjoy the leveling process and will move my Alliance characters to a Classic era server and my Horde characters to a TBC server.

Also, I get that the company needs to make money, but this seems silly to charge for in a game that has a monthly subscription.

It’s only silly if your not an activision CEO making 30 million a year. Get your money up.

Its not just about the one time copy. It also implies server space and support for those realms

My initial thoughts are that some in the community will post some posts about the price being outrageous, THEN make another post how Blizz does not EVER listen to its userbase.

Personally, I hope the price will be manageable. I will not be keeping my characters in classic, so I don’t have any skin in the game.

Tangent, but I like how the wowhead article is acknowledging the fact that boosts will likely be a boon for botters, but forums are still in denial about it.

Can someone explain this “cloning” to me

clone should be $15
boost should be $60

Once TBC goes live you’re going to get the chance to clone your classic vanilla toons to classic vanilla forever servers before playing them again. No backsies, if you forego the clone you’ll be pushed to TBC and never be able to clone them. If you clone them you can continue to play on vanilla forever servers while also moving to TBC.

Ok that makes sense thank you.

Now that I know that I won’t pay more than $10.

$9.99 is pushing it but reasonable

anything more than that is a no no

There is a lot of misinformation in your summary.

A player will get to choose, on a character-by-character basis, on whether to stay on a Classic Forever server or a TBC server.

A player can choose to clone the character, based on a snapshot taken at pre-launch, to play n the server you didn’t initially choose (if you chose Classic forever, you can clone a toon for TBC; if you chose TBC, you can clone a toon for Classic Forever).

You do not need to make a decision on cloning right away. I can pay and clone something a year from now.

Anyways, for me, $10 is fair. I plan to advance almost all of my toons to TBC, and may occasionally clone a toon for Classic Vanilla in the future at $10 (whether that’s the launch price of the service, or if they have it on sale in the future). Anything more, meh.

They’re already paying for the server and support costs for the folks who stayed and I’m already paying for a subscription. A fee to clone your character is the moral equivalent of a paperwork prep fee when you’re buying a car: pure added profit.
