I leveled a Holy Priest with all the XP buffs, but since all the spells were moved into the Talent tree rather than the Spellbook… I can’t figure out how to get Mouseover for some of the spells. I don’t like WoW’s “mouseover” where I have to hold an extra button and not a big fan of using a macro for it… anyone know how to fix this issue?
I just use VuhDo, which has Clique’s functionality built-in. You might as well, too. The new stock raid frames suck.
Does it allow you to choose Mouseover casting to spells on your ActionBar?
You have to set up the clicking and mouseover. It can be configured to be different than what’s on your bars. So you could put DPS spells on your bars. Mouseover the frames to heal, mouse off the frames to DPS.
Okay, thank you! I will check it out
This is the basic healing Mouseover macro…
#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,help] [] Heal
Replace Heal with whatever spell you want and move the macro to a Hot Bar slot.
Clique is great as well. I use it in conjunction with my own macros. It’s for using mouse clicks to cast spells and is very customizable.
But when you learn a spell from the talent tree, it goes into your spellbook? Does that affect the spells somehow? I’m clueless on macros, that’s why I’m asking.
Clique works the same now as it did prior to the talent change. Simply choose your talents, and they appear in the spellbook. They can then be assigned to Clique in the same way it always was.
You might need to choose different talents a few times to get all your binds assigned, but once done you’re good to go.
Thanks! I’ve never used it, so this is all good information.
It’s a great addon. I’ve been using it for over a decade. It’s what I use to heal on my healers, and it can be used for non-healer spells as well if necessary. A good example is on my Shadow Priest I use it for Power Infusion so I can mouseover buff a party member.
I’ll check it out! I’ve been using Healbot, but do like to try new things to help friends who look for other choices.
It’s a good addon if you like to assign specific types of mouseover keybinds and don’t want to make a ton of macros. I use it to keep a sense of uniformity between healer specs/classes.
For example, I’ve assigned some of my Holy Priest binds like so:
Shift+Left Click = Holy Word: Serenity (single target instant heal)
Shift+Middle Click = Renew (HoT)
Shift+Right Click = Flash Heal (single target filler heal)
Ctrl+Left Click = Power Word: Shield (single target absorb)
Ctrl+Middle Click = Circle of Healing (aoe cooldown heal)
Ctrl+Right Click = Prayer of Mending (bouncing triggered heal)
On my Restoration Druid my binds are like so:
Shift+Left Click = Swiftmend (single target instant heal)
Shift+Middle Click = Rejuvenation (HoT)
Shift+Right Click = Regrowth (single target filler heal)
Ctrl+Left Click = Cenarion Ward (single target triggered heal)
Ctrl+Middle Click = Wild Growth (aoe cooldown HoT)
Ctrl+Right Click = Lifebloom (single target HoT + bloom)
Basically I try to keep similar spell functionality using the same binds so I can more easily swap between characters and still heal comfortably. Obviously there are some stark differences between the types of spells some classes/specs have, but it works for me and lets my muscle memory generally adapt fairly easily when swapping classes.
What’s nice is, you can assign whatever keybinds you find comfortable. My mouse isn’t particularly fancy. It has two thumb buttons, and the typical left, right, and middle (scroll wheel) buttons. If you have a mouse with more buttons than that, you can assign those as comfort dictates.
