Client download is quite slow!

I am doing a full download of the client. I have followed every suggestion in the customer service forums, ensured the settings were at 0, deleted and re added the agent, rebooted , and nothing has made a difference. My speedtest shows my download speed is 96 MBS , but on the wow launcher, it will not go over 1.03-1.05 ish MBS. I started yesterday afternoon and there is still 19.31 GB to go. Any suggestions? I know the wow classic beta is in progress, but I wasn’t aware the downloader speed was also set to 2004 (lol ) .

Not knowing what you have tried already, try rebooting your computer. The download should pick up where it was last at.

Done this and it’s the same as it was. Not sure what the issue it but it seems to only impact wow downloader, speedtest shows ok, etc.

Keep in mind there’s a difference between MB\s and Mb\s. The former is what we generally use to display the download speed in the app (megabytes) whereas the latter is usually used by speedtests and ISPs to show internet speed (megabits). 96 Mb\s is going to be the equivalent to about 12 MB\s and that’s going to be a best case scenario as the speed test by default is going to test your connection to the closest available server rather than the Blizzard patch servers. If you change the server on the speedtest to something around Los Angeles, then you may be able to get a better idea of what your speeds may be though it still may not be completely accurate as its not our servers its testing to.

We can look into grabbing a traceroute test to see if there’s any issues with how the connection is being routed. Steps for that can be found here. When posting that, please format it by encasing it in a set of ~~~ like so:

~~~
I’d also try testing with a different DNS setup. For that we can try Google DNS.
I tried to reply with the info but it wont allow me to post links ( i started and ended with the ~~ and still won’t allow )
Make sure each set of tildes has 3 in it rather than just 2. Otherwise if we can get hat to work, upload the contents to Pastebin and include the portion of the link after the .com.
Overall that looks fine. Were you able to go through restarting the computer and the DNS change that was suggested previously?
I just completed both (and rebooted after DNS change ) , it will not go over 1.01 -1.05 MB/s
Would check task manager to see if we’re maxing out on disk usage as that can potentially slow down the download. If so and if there are multiple drives on the computer, we could look into installing on a different drive.
Past that I’d recommend putting in a ticket here making sure to include the msinfo report From there we can see if there’s any applications on the computer that may be affecting the download speed for the app.
Will do, thank you so much for your assistance :slight_smile:
Will probably be a bit before you get a response. But I did take a quick look and would make sure that SmartByte is disabled. If you launch the program there should be a On\Off toggle to turn it Off.
