hey guys, i just came back to the game… I know today is maintenance and im not here to complain like so many others ive seen on the forums today. every time i try to open the game client i get a black screen that eventually crashes. just started today. is anyone else getting this? is it due to the servers being down?
The two are likely related, yes. The servers are all down though so there is not really a reason to run the client, the only thing you could do is look at an offline server list. I’m sure it will be better and fixed soon.

I’m also having this issue. Ever since the Pre-release content was added game just crashes as soon as I open it. It tries to start then black screen and I get the typical windows error the program has stopped working. My game was working flawless until this pre-release content. I have since submitted a ticket hopefully it gets resolved some what soon.

This is also happening to me. Is there no solution?
This happened to me yesterday.
I did a ‘scan and repair’ from the launcher. Then shut down the computer entirely, left it for about a minute. Booted it back up, launch the game, it took a hot minute, but I could get in.
After work I go to log in – same issue. Black screen, mouse control vanishes, if I press any key, I get the windows crash popup.
Win 11 machine up to date, video card drivers up to date, nada.
[edit] I can alt-tab away from the black screen, and that does give me the mouse back. But the game never loads.
Update, in case anyone’s checking in with the same problem.
I restarted the computer. Let it sit a minute.
Started the launcher, clicked play.
I let the black screen sit, no touching it, just walked away. After 6 minutes, it brought up the loading screen, and about 20s later, I could see the character screen.
I have no clue why it’s doing this, but so far, this is all that’s worked for me.

I’m still having crashing issues and blizzard finally released a hot topic on issues with the new 10.2 patch. If you have a AMD GPU it is causing game crashing upon loading they have not released anything on time from of being fixed. As of 11/9/2023 I am still unable to load my game. I did read another forum that you can input a code to run in Direct X11 and will fix the issue to the problem until they figure it out. I have not tried this yet myself. Changing to Direct x11 seems to work for some if you are running a AMD GPU.
