IF Cleric where a class how do you think it would differentiate itself from Paladin? If memory serves, Clerics in DnD can where armor, have healing spells, and can tank…So…would they just be a worse Paladin? I’m wracking my brain trying to come up with something a Cleric can do that a Paladin cannot but…I’m at a loss. Please discuss below
It wouldn’t, which is why I’ve seen basically nobody ask for them ever.

D&D also has paladins, so I don’t really know.
Just a fun idea I had thought of to work my brain 
Holy Paladin is pretty much D&D Cleric and Prot/Ret is D&D Paladin.
Cleric as a unique class wouldn’t work in WoW, imo.

i also remember that DnD clerics couldn’t use blade weapons

Cleric wouldn’t really work because the holy paladin is already a cleric.
In D&D the idea is that clerics are more caster oriented while paladins are more martial combat oriented, but holy paladin already fills the role of the caster oriented version of this thematic.

Range dps spec using nothing but light spells, melee, dual wielding spec, and of course healing spec.
Be fun if done right.

DAoC had Clerics and Paladins in the same faction. The Clerics wore chain (mail) and had an offensive Smite spell line. In the initial release, Smite was really op and one Cleric could nuke down a full group of enemies. Good times.

DnD Cleric is already in WoW, it’s called Holy Paladin

You could certainly add one, but the class fantasy is heavily shared with paladin that I don’t think there would be much benefit besides a different flavor of paladin.
In theory you could make them a melee dps with a shield, a healing spec, and possibly a caster. Wear mail. and have a general light flavoring.

Clerics in EQ only worked because Paladin was a tanking class and cleric was a healing class- PERIOD
There was one role for each class for the most part and that was final

I’ve always said that Priests should be broken in half because their lore is screwy.
Clerics would be the Light-based cloth wearing class and Priests would be the Void-based cloth wearing class.
Just a thought.

Clerics have kind of been spread out between several classes, not just “Holy Paladins”.
Unholy DK’s would technically fall under the D&D Cleric umbrella too.
