Thought I would give it a go and decided to make my first PvP montage titled “Clear Conscience”
Let me know what you think can only get better with each edit NOW LIVE!! Plan to make more, get better with each edit, and of course better myself at PvP not all will be WPvP will also be doing BGs and Arenas and much more. Also plan to do these types of videos with other games as well; Overwatch, etc…
Other than the occasional jarring shake on kills, I enjoyed it. Could actually see what was going on and didn’t have to mute overly loud death metal, so it gets a 9/10 from me.
Thanks for the response, I enjoyed the shakes when a kill occurred but I do see why people don’t so next time I will simplify things and also get better PvP footage as well.
Thanks again! Hope to see you around and also maybe ingame
Just because he is horde as well as a forsaken does not mean he should feel guilty. YOU should feel guilty. He simply died and regained his free will, and how did humans treat us? by trying to exterminate us, so on behalf of all forsaken. Death to the living!
Everyone thank you, to be honest I am getting tons of positive feedback with minor negativity in regards to the shaking part will note that haha.
Main purpose of the video was just some PvP fun in the World. It’s a start and will only get better in the future when I get footage from Battlegrounds, Arenas, etc… Will be making more montages featuring different PvP aspects of the game. Been playing WoW for over 14 years, been an avid PvP player as I mainly PvE until I went casual in WoW during Legion. Picking up raiding again next tier as I have found a guild and also gonna put more time per week into PvP as well.
Again thank you all very much hope to see you all around!
As others have mentioned, the shaking on killing blows is a bit much. I don’t actually mind the idea, but it’s so strong that it makes it hard to even associate it with the killing blow if you’re not already looking for it. I figured it was something like that, but I had to go back near the beginning (where you used it a couple kills in a row) to make sure that’s what it was meant to be. My first instinct was that you were using it for big crits or burst damage, actually (the shaking sometimes obscured the battle text so I wasn’t sure), but the 2nd look made it more clear that it was killing blows.
And like Krutz said, I do find the group vs solo World PvP segments a bit silly. They’re not exciting to watch and aren’t showcasing any skill, which is generally the point of this kind of montage. One of the kills in this montage was literally a group of you wailing on some afk guy at a flight path. I know you said it won’t just be World PvP in the future, but making sure the footage going into the montage is worth watching is important. Especially some of those earlier clips felt like they could have been some mundane bit of a live stream, rather than a highlight. These should be highlights.
Stuff that’s already been said aside, I’m not sure about the whole cinematic panning shots in the beginning. It looks nice, but seems kind of irrelevant to a PvP montage. I think it would be appropriate if you were able to get that kind of footage of a battle already in progress (ie: Nazjatar or something that actually has a decent fight going on), but not when it’s just empty scenery. I’m unsure exactly how you got the footage so I’m not sure if that would be feasible or not.
The music isn’t my style, but I do like that it’s pretty chill in comparison to oldschool PvP montages, and it’s probably more fitting for this than most of what I would like to listen to anyway.
Oh, less of an editing thing, but maybe move your WoW chat down a bit and just cover it all the way with your webcam? It’s already mostly blocked so might as well. Could also maybe move your Stream Chat overlay thing left like an inch and a half? Not sure if that would work well or not. In my head it would look better visually since it wouldn’t be overlapping those right action bars, but it might end up being annoying if that inch and a half puts it too far toward the middle of the screen.
Thanks for that post much appreciated yea I noticed from most of the feedback some of the editing style isn’t welcomed, will keep it in mind for sure going forward. As far as skill, stay tuned looking forward to doing a whole lot more videos like this, so plan on putting tons of work with how successful the first one went, the rest can only get better!!!
