Hi, with the new 8.1 folder structure, is there a guide or tool for cleaning up the world of warcraft folder? Mine is 72.6GB and I had to move it off the SSD drive
Thanks

Not really no. The BDA’s last retail update push was a month ago.
You could try the Scan or Repair or failing that a reinstall.
As is mine. Aside from the screenshot directory and the random 200k file here and 400k file there, “data.rar” (72 1-gig files) is in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\Data\data
There’s no other errant or random data lying around; all the bulk is in the data folder. Personally I am not hurting for room at the moment, but I’m pretty sure an S&R or reinstall won’t actually decrease the size of that massive RAR.
The patch completely changed the file structure, everything’s under retail now, and none of my addon’s are findable to update. I have no idea why the file structure / trees would be changed. Makes no sense at all.
There is a big reason to reformat the data structure. If you play WoW and the PTR you had to download and install 2 full games. When WoW Classic pops up, that could be 3 full games.
It makes more sense to use the same data structure and eliminate the redundancy.
I made a post a couple hours ago about this. My WoW file was 73 GB. I deleted it. I reinstalled it. It is magically now only 53 GB.
Is that normal?
Yes it is. CASC is just really bad at garbage collection.
