[Classic]SoR vs SoC

reading the wow head leveling guide for pallies, they state that SoR is better than using SoC, but i feel like i do more dps with SoC… especially with the judgement stun effect.

As far as I understand, SoR is better if you have a lot of spell power/spell damage modifiers, and/or if your weapon swings very fast. And if your weapon swings on the slower side and you don’t have the spell power/spell damage modifiers, SoC is better.

Tbh in my experience, I have found only a few times that SoR is better than SoC. So I recommend just using SoC and looking for weapons that have really slow attack speeds. Like 3.5 is a good number. The slower the better.

What is beneficial, is to start out initially on a target with seal of the crusader, and judge with that so they have the debuff and take additional holy damage. Then switch to using SotR

It’s because SoR has less wasted damage and is more efficient overall. There are times when you can bash a mob from 100-10% before you finally get an SoC proc so the SoC proc is essentially wasted because you way overkilled the mob wasted one of it’s PPM(procs per minute).

SoR, hits every time so none of its damage is wasted and is overall much more reliable.

It’s the same reason why you use Rockbiter over Windfury for leveling Enhancement Shamans.
Windfury is amazing when it procs one the mob when its health is at 100% - it feels terrible when it doesn’t proc the entire fight and finally does at 5%. You would’ve greatly benefitted from using the steady added DPS of Rockbiter.

Also, leveling in classic can be reallllly boring. So play what you like best  if you like those big procs and crits go SoC.

Generally, SoC is better when leveling. SoR is an option if your weapon is faster than 3.4 seconds per swing or so, but I wouldn’t bother. And as you mentioned SoC also provides increased damage on stunned targets, which is extra fun.

SoR is for tanking or when you’re in a situation that you’re forced to fight something using a 1H + Shield.

SoC is for a 2H that’s above 3.2 speed.
