Sure.
And those other games are a huge reason why Blizzard stopped displaying numbers. It would be stupid and idiotic to be the only game displaying your numbers.
And one of those lessons learned was not to display your numbers?

No. I donât think that was even in the lesson plan. Most MMOs donât release numbers unless they are doing really well. If at all.
They dont, at all. Yet for some reason its only a big deal if Blizzard doesnât.
Well if it was still the bastion that some players say that it still is then they wouldnât have an issue giving us some kind of information as to where we are as a community. To me, keeping us in the dark only seems to be a sign that they donât want us to think about it. Making it seem like things are as fine as ever. Which personally, I donât think it is at all.
I highly doubt it will be that high maintained. Old School Runescape lost 75% of their players in the first 90 days.
Pushing money into a product you have little information on, requires as much information as you can get.
I would never list any of your comments as a reason to, or not to invest, as you seem only able to defend blizzard and attack people that donât allign with your way of thinking.
What mechanics? Because im pretty sure that if we saw Mythic Raid mechanics back in Vanilla people would had gone crazy.
Or. They realize it would be stupid and idiotic to release numbers in todays age, in a game genre known for being cyclical in their playerbase (this happens in FFXIV and ESO).
All that would happen is when numbers dip due to a content dry period (that will always, regularly happen in any MMO), competitor MMOs will jump on that. âTHEIR NUMBERS ARE FALLING, PLAY OUR GAME INSTEADâ (paraphrased).
They arenât hiding their numbers because they think people are stupid and will think all is well. They are hiding their numbers because its the industry norm. And if they didnât hide their numbers (because well, a ton of people are stupid), then those numbers would be used against them due to the cyclical nature of MMORPG playerbases.
Lots of flaws, op, but here is the bottom line :
Classic will crash and burn. The game and community have evolved. Think of the original start trek TV series. It still has a fanatical following with a specific demographic. You can still watch it on TV. Is it good by todayâs standards? Nope. Welcome to classic.
There will be lots of people poking around in it initially but that will quickly fade. By Christmas it will be down to that fanatical and small few.
Glad you are excited but it will not last.
itâs not a real metric though. People watching something as opposed to playing it are entirely different metrics.
Millions of people watch wrestling, how many of them actually are going to be or want to be wrestlers.
Views donât equate to overwhelming interest.
Battlefield 5 has 800 viewers, at peak (for people playing) it is has 20,000 people does that mean no one is interested in battlefield?
See the problem?
Sure, Jan. Keep believing that. Three months from now when the servers are emptier than War Z, I hope you enjoy spending three hours spamming General Chat for tanks that have more than one piece of Fire Resist gear and turning up nothing.
Classic ainât changeing anything from retail except give Retail WoW BFA bonus money thats it.
Arenât you the same person that made the thread a few days ago about the MDI?
About how it is only 3 classes out of all the available in this game?
I even replied to you there, I told you that was bad news for advertisers and investorsâŠ
Complaining about capitalism, that offers little advantages in a game, is pretty cringe m8.
That sounds pretty boring, in retail youâre rewarded for the time you put into the game.
So the thought of someone getting a random, 455 boot makes you tremble in your boots. What was that old bit of wisdom about: âThou Shalt Not Covetâ?
Except due to Ilvl differences, basic mythic dungeon gear is sucky? The preliminary way of gearing in this game is still raiding. M+ offers an alternative.
World Quests are dailies, and theyâve been in the game for ages. I get it, you have a giant galaxy brain and have transcended beyond the need to do quests for gear, gold and resources. Maybe popping your ego would aide the health of this game.
You are a digital boomer. What makes your cash more valuable than thiers?
Congratulations, the dice favored you. It took me 3 weeks to get this character up to 419 ilvl. Not everyone has the same time you do. I love titanforged items, feel incredible when I get one.
Yeah except you have to grind out everything instead of just one thing! Thatâs SOOOOO much better.
Yeah, nerfing grinds for people who come in to the expansion late, or like playing more than one character sucks. How dare Blizzard make things more convenient for their loyal customer-base?
biiiiiig yikes if thats ur comeback
Ok.
And what does that have to do with the propaganda being pushed by the OP?
I meanâŠyou arenât giving me much to work with here. You arenât giving really any reasons or points. Just a lot of name calling.
It isnât propaganda if you canât prove it wrong.
Everything you are saying could be considered the same.
The product isnât out yet.
I think itâs going to yo-yo, it will be a lot of people playing, then people will go back to retail, then when there isnât much to do in the new expansion people will go back because they are bored. I am hoping they donât rely on Classic in this way and always keep putting a lot into the new expansions. But that is my guess how it will go.
One good thing about classic is it may succeed in drawing away many of the pos players like this OP from retail.
I do hope for the long term success of Classic, but I honestly beleive that the first few months will see it be EXPLOSIVELY popular, but after about ~6 months, we will see a smaller, dedicated playerbase with a bit of rise and fall where people use it to take a break from retail or go super casually with a Classic toon. At worst, hopefully it stays popular enough to remain. At best, it may influence how future expansions approach features.
Only time will tell.
