Haha! You crack me up mate! <3
Theres a diffrence between looking and inviting a tank and just randomly inviting 4 other people and hoping for the best
i find it funny the #nochanges people are asking for changes…this addon literally could work back in classic…and blizzard is making changes to the API…
but what do I know…i am just a 04er who wants HD models in classic and thats ruining classic which literally changes nothing but this technically does
(i don’t care if it works or doesn’t personally as it basically just makes it easier to communicate with people)
hehe, well I have had a few beverages lol
I love tanking for PUGs, and was happy to do it back in the day, as long as you weren’t a “go go go!” kid and try pulling for me. Then either you or myself was leaving the group. Most the time it was hard enough finding a tank back then that it wasn’t going to be me.
It wasn’t even random, just the first four schmucks that posted
much like the current fiasco of figuring out realm populations Blizzard purposely sits on the literal numbers. there have been numerous blue posts over the years citing that during classic:
We don’t want to restrict raiding again to <1% of the player base, and that’s the only way to go back to purple being rare again.
the problem here is that the number often responds to how many people reached the final tier of content. the number of people ACTUALLY raiding ANY tier is obviously far higher. likewise the number of people trying to raid vs getting actual boss kills is even lower.
that being said they’ve maintained in classic that a lot of the fury in threads in the Raids&Dungeon forum were ignored because blizzard didn’t want to cater to smaller player base specifically (i.e. raiders) because they weren’t the average player case.
LFR doesn’t require attunements or much of anything past a generic ilvl check. classic raids required effort to be able to zone into them per character (not account). statistically it will be lower per capita just because of that.
of course that depends on whether you considering LFR an actual raid but that’s another discussion
I find it funny this exact same post gets put in every thread about this addon and then people put out how that addon a lot of people didn’t even know about and in some cases was shunned making it use very small and sometimes harder than just making a manual post. But no… please continue with the echo chamber.
I’d like to personally thank babe for her consistent addon defense and love letters to those of us who engaged her. You really are a sweetie pie hun.
You know in order to get to know whether a person is good or not it’s usually good practice to play with them to find out. And then if you’re a decent human being you can try to give them tips to help improve in the future. Something that used to happen in vanilla when a lot of people were playing an mmo for the first time. I tanked and healed in vanilla and I played with randoms a lot. That’s how I got a group of friends. Stop being narrow minded and open up to the possibility that you might end up meeting some worthwhile people when you step outside of your bubble.
I am telling you, look at my class, I was a hunter. I organized pug dungeon runs all the time and I randomly invited healers and tanks ALL the time and they accepted ALL the time without knowing who I was.
That was the Vanilla experience. You know, the thing Classic is trying to recapture. And those interactions are what led to socialization. Eventually a bored healer would join, you’d thank them profusely, and then run your dungeon. And guess what, you VALUED that healer because they helped you out. Not just all healers in general, that specific healer. And in the future that healer might ask for your help. And so the wheel turned and communities were built. On paper it sounds crazy that that is how it happened in Vanilla but it did quite often.
As another example, I was one of the first on my server with a completed UBRS key. As a result I was always getting asked to unlock a door for a group. Most of the time I could go out there and open a door for them. And in turn I could ask for help when needed. But initially no one knew I had the key. People would post “LFM, Need UBRS key.” And in the same chat I would offer to open the door for them. And due to those interactions i built a healthy and robust social network of fun people I still talk to to this day.
Probably for the best that it was disabled, it will be an interesting experiment for Blizzard to observe.
You’re not understanding the point, the add-on didn’t care whether you were a healer or a tank or a dps, it just invited the first 4 people looking for that dungeon, like the meeting stones you usually would just end up with 4 dos
And therefore it was crap and nobody would use it meaning you have literally nothing to complain about.
What has that got to do with the person i originally replird to thinking people where going to make custom groups for dungeons and go with the first 4 people that joined.
Like that would ever happen and if by some chance it did then let them they aint people you want in your group anyway
I mean, people are complaining about the auto invite feature, not me
It happened all the time. LF4M, need healer and warrior.
i honestly can’t wait till the add-on developer makes a work around as from what I understand it’s just a Glorified chat logger.
I want to watch #nochanges people ask for changes and show what a dumb movement it was in the first place
It’s hard to tell what Blizzard REALLY has an issue over though.
They always keep the door open to blocking stuff, but the ClassicLFG pile-on really just began a few days ago, mostly after the beta ended. And Blizzard only today made this announcement, after the hysteria rose up in the past three days over it.
Honestly, I had no idea this addon was even in existence until I saw threads popping up about it this past week. I don’t think Blizzard or most other people did either.
I don’t think Blizzard would have done anything if nobody was complaining about it these past few days.
Would Blizzard ban DBM or any other helper addon if the forum suddenly went into hysteria about it? I think they would if it was filling up the forums.
Blizzard seems much more reactionary than philosophical. I mean, we wouldn’t even have ClassicWoW if a couple die hard fans didn’t take matters into their own hand with private servers, against Blizzard’s wishes, the EULA, TOS and some copyright laws. lol
