So a LFG addon that is totally optional and not cross-server “breaks the vanilla experience”, yet layering is okay lmao
You people are unbelievable

Glad to see this looked into and see a response what this in particular. Im sure this wont be the last addon looked at as devlopers are quite skilled.
Glad we finally have some closure on this.
ty blizz keep it up, also good to know you guys are supporting classic
Thank you for clarifying this and accurately assessing the community consensus on the issue.
I wonder how many other addons will break as a result of these proposed api changes, I thought the LFG addon was just a chat parser…
They responded pretty quickly to the uproar of the last 48 or so hours. I’m very happy they chose to defend the integrity of the game.
In the coming weeks after launch?
I hope it’s sooner rather than later! Thank you!!
Hmmmmm…
Other addons, eh?
Nah. That was misinformation spread by people defending it. It literally could be used without the chat system at all.
Take my money blizzard
So basically it remains to be seen just how much functionality is actually broken.
It’s because layering is used to keep an optimal vanilla experience over the long term of the game.
It’s likely they will limit SendAddonMessage to be more like how it was in 1.12. Back then it wasnt possible for addons to send messages on a hidden faction-wide channel
So is bnet community integration being removed too?
I haven’t ever been ok with layering. But Blizzard has assured us more than once now that it will definitely be removed by phase 2. I am ok with this personally. My concern was it wouldn’t ever be removed.
YYYEEESSSSSSSSSS!!!

At the very least the ability for it to be used without the chat system will be broken.
Very heartened to hear this response, I know people are looking for ways to circumvent what can potentially be a frustrating experience for some, but trying to find ways to avoid the social aspect of the game goes against the very core of Classic itself.
Communicate, make friends, join a guild! These aren’t hard things to do and the end result is being part of a community within a community full of people willing to be a part of the experience with you.
YYYEEESSSSSSSSSS!!!
Victory!
Thank you!
