As a bit of a follow up to my last post about classic raiding and wishing raid leads luck with their quest to herd cats, I actually would like to raid. Had a bit of fun doing it back in Cata and MoP. Would Being an altoholic hinder my chances of getting a raid spot in Classic? Or any tips for newcomers in general?
(also may or may not listen to classical music while listening to the Raid / Class Lead)
For the character you want to raid on, you’ll need to focus on getting them attuned for Onyxia, MC and Blackwing Lair (when released). Players cannot enter these instances without completing their respective attunement.
You’ll also want to complete as much of your pre-Raid gear list and as get as much Fire Resist gear as you can, for your role. Tanks need the most, melee need a lot and ranged/healers can get away with about 150. How you get to those numbers doesn’t matter.
Alts should be fine if you have the time. Just focus on your main raiding character until you’ve completed those things and you’ll be good to go.
If you want to be really prepared, find out the basic strategy for all bosses ahead of time so you understand what is going on. Lot of videos for those on youtube.

you mean I can’t outgear the mechanics? /s but ye, I figured resists and mechanics will be a thing to look out for. the alts will, more or less, be supporting the main, unless I have a ton of fun on 'em.

You can be an altoholic, but I would suggest blitzing your main character to 60 and becoming “raid ready” first.
Then you can raid > farm consumes if your guild requires > play alts.
The thing about Classic WoW is that the “busy” portion of the game is right at the beginning. Reaching 60, getting epic mount, farming pre-raid BIS, farming first round consumes, getting attunements, etc. That’s a LOT of things to get done before your first raid. After that, it’s just raid and maintain consumable stock. There’s a lot of free time for people after they get the initial blitz finished.

I know, because I was one in vanilla… and that was the main reason I didn’t experience a lot of the raids.
Getting 1-60 is no small feat. It’s a pretty big accomplishment… and there is even more you have to do when you do reach 60(attunements)
This is not to discourage you… Vanilla wow is a really fun game all throughout. Doing pvp and dungeons at lvl 30 is just as fun of an experience at level 60… and the experience changes and evolves throughout the whole journey.
You’ll get there eventually, take your time… Classic isn’t going away any time soon.
I remember having lvl 35 blue fire resistance trinket with on use more fire resist. It was great vs breath of Onyxia, but I cannot remember where it dropped. I kept through whole MC/some bosses BWL
Playing a support-oriented, heavily in demand class (like a Hunter later, or a Paladin or anything like that) does increase your chance of being brought. While as a hybrid you’re much less likely to find a spot easily as a DPS, you don’t do the same individual DPS - which makes it less attractive to DPS players largely focused on their own personal progression. There’s so much information out there that tells people what is best and not, so going for the less played (Druid in particular) but very useful classes makes you more attractive.
Overall play what you enjoy though. Druid/Paladin might be your cup of tea, as you aren’t solely restricted to one thing.
Depends raiding and Raid leading are two different beast. Raid leading is a nightmare. If you aren’t half mad and suffering from depression by your 4th raid i call BS Hope you enjoy group therapy!
Getting into raiding is easy, make yourself seem like you’re agreeable enough, do what you can for your guild. Be a class they need, don’t stand in fire and show up early over ontime / late.
Alot depends on the guild you want casual hardcore Or a none raiding guild that raids whenever, can’t really give you more then that unless i can get more outa you.
