Unless they release a Cataclysm Classic, I’m not interested
Also I’m pretty sure they’re stopping after WoLK so hopefully this whole ‘classic’ thing dies down after that

You are massively understating the technical undertaking this would be. Chromie Time is all on a single patch, with everyone in the world using 9.0 spells and talents - not “every patch build of wow ever.” Even Timewalking doesn’t roll back the talents and spells. And what happens if my DK wants to go back to 1.12 or my monk to 3.0? They might as well make WoW 2 for all the dev time this would take.
It ended, because all iterations of WoW ‘end’. Vanilla to TBC, TBC to Wrath and so on. Don’t get your point.
Because it’s a different game. People who got the Scarab Lord title and mount back in original vanilla played it a time when they were on dial up, playing on computers barely able to carry the game and knew little or nothing about MMOs, had no vast reference sources, etc. Why should things earned now using today’s systems, internet, etc, carry over into retail? That would entirely devalue what those players earned all those years ago. You may as well just suggest they be put up in the game shop.
They have done the most reasonable option of recreating vanilla WoW in Classic (allowing for certain quality of life changes) and anyone who wants to experience that game can play it.
You do? Why?
Well, that’s nice. It won’t happen. I’d rather they develop and improve the current game than spend an extra cent on working further on a 20 year old iteration.
look at me
i am the captain now
Have to agree it would be nice if we could unlock no longer available mog looks at the least (not that many mounts at all were removed from availability, same with pets so not sure about the point there but mogs definitely) for retail after getting them on Classic. Maybe have the tooltip text for the mog indicate we aren’t someone with that old look who saved it but someone who played the classic version to get it so those who saved their early tier can still rock it as an achievement.
I have always had the tought of making each expasion their own zone.
Like, imagine that when you return wo WoTlk all wotlk sistem of 3.3.5a where still there, talents and all. Like its own little island.
When yo get to bc, the same all the talebts and spell where there. And will be its own little island.
You could still do it for old content as now, but you could have a toggle to enable legavy mode, wich would bee like a cromie time.
But your power would be the same as bc, talebts and all. Each expac would have legavy mode in wich ypu will have ypur old spells, your old talents and this would be what changes when you level in other. Expac zones.
Legion artifacts could still works and give you tje abilities they gave in legion, but only on. The island, borken shore and argus.
It would like a horizontal progressión sistem. In wich all what it was stays as it where an you could opt in, as it was or to do it modern stile.
I dont know, to me that would have maked chromie time more interesting, not only preserving the zone lore but the expac sistems, and power of said expac
A long, long time ago … before “classic” came into being, when it was still being discussed as to whether or not Bliz should resurrect the original game to put the illegal servers out of business (and cash in on the nostalgia). The “no” voters lost; as with just about everything else voted on in the real world in the past 12 years, the losers don’t seem to be able to accept – or even acknowledge – defeat.
I expect to see several more versions of this subject posted over the next few days … just because they can.
