Speaking of things from the past, there is no way for someone in classic to have something crafted without either a.) handing someone the mats b.) leveling enough alts to have every profession or c.) dropping your current profession and releveling the one that has the item you need.
Options B and C is completely ridiculous so I think the better idea would be to give people their mats back, like they used to do for 15+ years.
