Classic WoW isn't what it's crack up to be

I agree. Classic was tedious rather than hard. I spent so much time in classic reading websites in order to figure out what I was supposed to do for the quest instead of actually playing, because it could take forever to find that one flat rock I was supposed to put a sacrifice on in order to attract the dino, for example.

I know three individuals that quit in BC due to real life conflicts, since spending 2000 hours per year playing a game burned out their marriage or school. These three now came back to play classic and spout off that retail sucks. The odd part is, none of them even played retail at max level and have no clue what they are talking about. I already played classic and therefore, have zero interest in doing that again.

Leveling was kinda painful back in the day, but i wouldn’t say hard. It was time consuming and you had to be a tad more careful about how you pulled mobs, but for the most part, it was just slow, not really hard.

Classic hard? :joy: covers eye and spams 1 and 2 and 1 and 2 and 1 and 2 and dead. If i wanted to raid id just uncover my eyes and incorporate w,a,s,d. Lets face it, the game was new and the hardest part was the pc/net lag. Gamers are progressively turning more determined and better players as a whole. Eventually we will get more complex games. Even Retail wow has increased it’s difficulty over the years. Compare MC to Mythic Jaina, big difference.

In my honest opinion the hardest thing about classic is leveling lol. Than again that’s just since I find it boring till pvp happens and I get happy for a few mins and back to slaving quests away.

It was hard for the time period the game was current in, but in 2019 - 2020 Classic raids are a complete joke. Same will be said if we ever get to Wrath Classic Servers. People will fly through Ulduar and ICC, and then be confused when it wasn’t as hard as they remembered it to be.

With that being said, I, like many other players, still find the game extremely enjoyable and still continue to play for a different experience. However, no, it’s not hard.

the hardest thing about classic is staying awake.

The people who completed MC the first week had been practicing for years on fresh rolls of private servers. They joined as guilds that moved together to the next fresh server. The goal on every fresh pserver was to be the first guild to kill Ragnaros. It was definitely a race to be first for them.

They knew exactly what they needed to do to get their first kills. That’s not comparable to people who leveled up normally without using any exploits and geared up normally. Those people took a couple of months to get to that point.

Many things OP:

  1. Classic wow = patch 1.12. Vanilla WoW did not have 1.12 till way later, things were harder before that.

  2. Knowledge. People joined in 2004 when there wasn’t wowhead to look up what you had to do, you had thotbot and that didn’t have everything. Now in 2020, we know 100% everything in classic wow because of retail WoW.

  3. Internet. Back then it was dial-up and it sucked. Now imagine someone dc’d mid-raid with AOL and you had to do the 1 min long reconnection everytime…yeah. Not an issue today.

  4. Addons were very limited, now today’s addon guide you giving you baby steps every step of the way.

August 22, 2006 is when 1.12 came out. Wow released originally November 23, 2004. So yeah, almost 2 years difference.

a lot of things to consider back then we all played on crappy pcs and most likely didn’t even know how to play or the ins and outs of the game sumthing as simple as a gaming mouse didn’t really exist and 800 by 600 resolution monaters and Dial-up Internet…lmao under all these conditions yeah it was hard but was a memorable experience

I keep hearing you all were on dial-up. Geesh, I’ve had a cable modem since about 1997.

I think it is.

But I enjoy questing and don’t use addons, study wowhead or watch youtube videos as a part of my regular gameplay to make everything simple and easy.

Hahahaha ClAsSiC bAd. Slower more thoughtful game play=tedious. Hardcore worl firs players beat ragnaros real quik. Hardzpart is to stay awake lolololol…trust me someone told me so.

Difficulty in Vanilla/Classic is like this:
LFR - Molten Core/Onyxia
Normal - Black Wing Lair
Heroic - Ahn Qiraj 20 or 40
Mythic - Naxx 40

If you are just playing LFR or Normal on BFA, you would never ever gonna get to Naxx 40… you might not even pass AQ20 or AQ40. Wanna bet?

you’re basing your judgement on false pretense. Nobody with a functioning brain will genuinely argue that classic is hard. It’s time consuming, it’s a different game, and it requires a lot of patience.

it has just as much of a reason to exist as retail and the population numbers prove that.

Onyxia was. While certainly not the hardest Classic boss, it was still cleared with a naked raid.
Also Molten Core was cleared with a raid team that wasn’t even entirely geared/level 60 when it dropped

is naxx 40 out already?

Not yet, so you know everything in there right now are SUPER EASY.

Personally while I agree classic is easy I think it shows you don’t need 4 difficulties and half a dozen flashy mechanics on every boss for raiding to be fun.

and thats all you needed to say.

Buddy. AQ on the test server was cleared in 20 mins. If you have the gear every single new raid in classic is lfr difficulty.
And yeah, I bet when naxx is released it’ll be cleared day one.
