If that’s the best hope, then Classic itself is doomed.
Some may, but the one major difference between Vanilla and BC that I constantly see people talking about is “I didn’t get to experience it all”. In other words making the content mean something, instead of a pointless difficulty/mythic+ treadmill that literally never leads anywhere is a MAJOR difference.
People like to beat Video games. Really, they do. Many people bought and played Sekiro until its end, despite it being much harder than the average game. However, take a game like Uncharted. Most people beat it on Normal and then stopped. Less than 1% actually cared to beat the game on all 4 difficulties, because its pointless progression to most peoples minds.
BFA is pointless progression to most peoples minds in the same way. Vanilla is Sekiro, and I think more than you would imagine will be up to the task of actually “beating the game”. Because hey, most of us are gamers. We like completing things, Retail ruined that.
Thousands aren’t millions. I will be there, but if Classic maintains a pool of a few hundred thousand, that will still be a success, and Laeric will technically still be correct. There will be a massive loss a few months in, and that is ok.
Seriously why stop at cata. People enjoy up to WoD and do panda private servers to. Should just release each expac as classic again over 2 year intervals. Just like they did and make the next wow expac as planned still.
Uh… no.
This is the slippery slope I keep fighting against.
#NoChanges also means #NoExpansions.
You want expansions? Play Retail.
Asmongold is the only notable person who even kept up with BFA post launch, and he near had a mental breakdown going over how much the current game depresses him, but he still sticks with it. The majority of the big streamers you are seeing now haven’t cared for Retail for a long, long time and are very vocal about it.
You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.
Too late about the no changes thing, people have already been crying about the implementation of colour blind mode.
Seriously? People are crying about that?
The changes that have been made are NEEDED and don’t affect gameplay in the slightest.
I disagree. Nobody is asking for alterations to content on launch, this is post naxx, 2+ years down the road. Classic will be fine, because nothing is finalized and no post naxx content can exist until post naxx. At that point, I believe the legacy WoW community will want either TBC or more vanilla content.
TBC would be a viable option, sure, and it has a great endgame, but a lot of the reasons why classic is great go away in TBC. There’s a very solid argument in favor of expanding classic to preserve the mechanics and naturally flowing systems lost in the transition to TBC. Quite a few things got streamlined in TBC and I think one of the big reasons everyone loves the beta to much is because the game isn’t streamlined. Sodapoppin spent hours to get a pretty bad trinket, for example. TBC is a very hardcore game, and classic is far more of a sandbox.
It depends on the perspective. And I dont think anybody who wants post naxx wants all servers to be affected, or at least not affected without a majority vote like OSRS.
That’s what i thought too, people will just complain about anything I guess.
His depression wasnt the game… it was his subscriptions plummeting. Get your facts straight.
Oh also he didnt get carried thru Mythic Uldir this time around. They could barely farm heroic ghuun.
I don’t trust Blizzard to develop Classic-style content anymore.
And you’re a fool if you think Blizzard won’t cut costs by forcing these changes on everyone, including the people who never wanted them to begin with.
well then you shouldn’t be here.your voice means very very little
I’m sorry. I thought the demand that won Blizzard’s attention was the demand for Vanilla WoW, not the demand (or lack thereof) for TBC-onward.
Classic is very addictive. Most who opt to try it out will be hooked for the duration.
BFA is a very bad game though. Classic WoW is an amazing game where people will want to play for years. How can you even say the 2 games in the same sentence? Literally no comparison. There are millions waiting to play Classic it has a good chance of beating the 12.2 mil subs that WotLK had.
I will be gearing up in Phase 1 just so I can grind 10 hours a day for Phase 2 when PvP drops. This game will be massive beyond imagination.
If they put content to community vote, I’m absolutely fine with additional content shipping on all servers. Uninvested players who want instant gratification will have quit by Naxx, they won’t really have a huge voting presence. It would be fine.
Blizzard is crapping the bed with retail due to a number of systemic changes they’ve made to the game that make it impossible to fix without destroying playerbase, so unless they implement the WoW token, LFR, sharding, and additional dungeon/raid difficulties, I believe the Classic team could create genuinely good gameplay and good new content. You need to take into consideration how pinned down the retail team is by their decisions to appease the uninvested casual player.
Well you are just flat out wrong. He took plenty of time off and literally has a video up talking about how he feels about BFA, how much time hes wasted on WoW, and how it feels like it means nothing because the games going downhill and has been for so long.
He has consistently stated it wasn’t just his viewer count and used the fact that he got few viewers during his gardening stream and still had a blast.
You maybe the most clueless person to ever attempt to correct me. Congratulations!
Blizzard has never designed by vote before. I don’t see them starting any time soon.
You know I love Vanilla, butI pray that the higher end game content isn’t like we see on the streams. Or that maybe there is an underlying bug. Because as it is, it’s almost like Retail. Who needs to cc when you can chain pull packs with 0 downtime? If I can clear SM in 30 minutes, i’m gonna level slower, but man I’ll have enough money for my mount and get BiS in no time. I just need to run dungeons the entire time.
