Having played through all of the current content available in Classic wow, whenever I play retail nowadays I get an immediate nostalgia.
I run blackrock depths in the dungeon finder on my heritage armor alt. I run molten core mog runs on the main and when I get a piece of nightslayer, or a perdition blade from Ragnaros, I feel the weight of the game and that at one point all those years ago people were in this very raid when it was brand new.
Its like when I play classic I get a shadow of what the game was. Its not technically vanilla because we aren’t in 2005 anymore. We are playing that version in 2019. Its not the main game but a server option.
Playing classic and then playing retail has actually made me appreciate retail more. Its like I can see these little glimpses into the past when running old content on my 120 character. I get iconic drops in retail wow that are little windows into the past as to ‘yes, vanilla wow existed. What people experience in classic servers in 2019 actually happened’. Its a really cool feeling.
I personally play retail 90% of the time now, and 10% is logging in for raid night on classic. But the two games are still connected in a very unique way. Playing classic has made me appreciate retail even more…it WAS classic at one point. And it’s so much more now

Well, some people say, if you want a glimpse of the future, look beind you
Well you do know BFA is the better game right?
lol, I do miss pet battles, a few more flight paths and big bags, that’s for sure.
Don’t get nostalgic over gear or dungeons though.

Yes but the majority of people don’t use logic
Half the stuff that makes retail even remotely enjoyable for those that choose to play it was already added to the game between tbc and wraith. Like group finder and PvP changes in regards to gear and how to obtain it, along with bg’s.
If you enjoy retail more than classic atm, chances are you’d enjoy wraith more than retail. A game polished, well situated in between both versions. Quality wise, the game was pretty much a trilogy, but before cata they canned most of the developers and brought over new ones from diablo like holinka. That’s why it went in such a radical direction after the trilogy finished. Think of WoW as star wars.

I am thinking to use retail to explore raids/dungeons to prepare for tanking in classic, since it’s been 14yrs I haven’t been there.
Are all the lvl 60 intances still there in retail?
Blizzard edited almost all dungeons around cata, like for example they took out about a third of wailing caverns and just connected the tunnels. I wouldn’t use retail versions of 60 raids as any form of preperation. Half the mobs are different as well, and bosses are even moved around to different rooms.
ah ok, thanks. I won’t bother then.
For sure. The same way sticking razor blades in my @ss is better than playing a fun game.
They are all ready after me. Supposedly I am the anti classic warlock since I disagree with all the requests for changes.
BFA is what changes have done.
You know classic in a bad time right now if nobody spam hate message on you for saying positive thing about retail.

Retail has its strengths. Although I don’t find it fun anymore, because I can’t find challenge in casual content there. Classic is overall more difficult on casual level and I feel like what I’m doing has a weight.
Wrong forum, mate. Go back to retail and never come back.
