This has probably been discussed many times before but when googling I can’t seem to find my exact question. So, Would it be possibly for Blizzard to add just a toggle switch in the graphics portion of the menu where if selected it updates all the models, like characters, building, environment, etc to current retail models? Or maybe several toggle switches so you can keep the old character models with new buildings etc. not sure why this isn’t an option.
I’m assuming to do this, Blizzard would need an Azeroth (pre-cata) with all new models, environment, buildings and the rest of the assets in place for there to be a toggle to switch between. And Blizzard won’t have that.
This is far more complicated than just adding an option, or a slide.
There were complications in WoD having a tickbox for old and new character models, with the skeletons for animations being completely different which did not align.
This would take way more effort for Blizzard to implement than the effort they are willing to give to the classic playerbase, which is effectively none.

This is the key.
They’re forced to choose. Retail or Classic animations? If they choose retail, it’s a complete non-starter for me.
I personally suspect that they will be creating Classic+ with retail models and animations, which is why I’m currently expecting TBC Anniversary to be my last Warcraft related product.

Complications is putting it mildly 
It mostly made the whole game crash.
I agree that it’s probably too much of a work for blizz and like Anon I fear that they will choose the lazy way out and that
which would same as Anon mean that I would not play. The new models look so, so stupid!
The reason why the original toggle was removed from retail was clipping issues with the new armor items with the old character model rigging. So instead of doing more work to accommodate this they just disabled the old models.
This won’t be an issue as both new/old char models can use older items that doesn’t conflict with rigging.
I would be extremely surprised though if they allowed a toggle for the world though as that would require much more effort.
It seems to me that they would make you choose this at the time of install.
Either install Classic package or install Retail package. That would complicate the install for new players and likely cause them to scrap the idea, unless they had visual aid to show what you’re getting into. They could take it a step further and allow us to install both, but I can’t imagine the file size at that point.
I would rather they just up-rez things, which they seem to be doing.
I honestly prefer the movement animations in Classic by a lot. They’re so bouncy and weird in retail.
I have trouble playing male darkspears anymore, and that used to be one of my favorite race/gender combos.
I am 100% on board with an Oblivion style graphics upgrade. Throw in a toggle switch like D2R did and call it good
With that said, if they tell me I have to give up a couple new raids and a bunch of content to free up dev resources to do it, hard pass. Content is more important
