Classic WoW Cost

Just curious if Blizzard has any updates regarding the cost of Classic WoW. The only one I’ve seen is that it will be “free” with a regular subscription. I think that is a great deal for players that enjoy the current game. But what about those of us who simply aren’t interested in playing the current game consistently or at all?

This is an underwriting question of course  but I think a lot of players who want to play Classic only would be more likely to treat it like a Netflix subscription and let it go year round regardless of how active they are. So say maybe get $15.00 a month for 4-5 months out of the year ($75.00) when the itch is strong enough, vs 12 months at $7.50/$9.99 ($90.00/$119.88).

I played WoW quite a bit back in the vanilla days when I was a bachelor, but like many of us who did, I now have a job I want to keep  and have family/life matters that severely restrict my availability.

Thank you Blizzard for even making Classic WoW a thing, please consider having an alternative pricing model for exclusive Classic WoW subscription, cheers.

It would cost the same amount of money both retail and classic suscription. They just merged both and you only need to pay one single sub for both games.

If you don’t want to play retail, just ignore the retail tab.

You sub to WoW, you play WoW. Easy as that.

So are you saying that BFA is worth $15 a month and classic wow isn’t? Careful you might have people raising pitchforks based on your answer.

So you’re saying paying $15 a month to play Classic isn’t a great deal for someone who’s only interested in Classic?

Just don’t play Retail. There’s no box cost or anything anymore unless it’s the current expansion. And you don’t need the current expansion to play.

In 2005 when I started playing, it cost up to 15 a month to play vanilla wow.

In 2019, 15 a month will get me two wows.

In a way, you are getting classic for 7.50 a month, it’s just tied into a bundle deal.

Besides, it’ll be good to have that bundle just in case Blizzard learns something from Classic and makes Retail great again.

(Yes I went there. Fite me.)

There is no up front cost, but you will not be able to get it cheap.

$15 is the price you paid for Vanilla, and since everyone wants exactly that game, it must be worth at least as much. Especially since that’s more like $20 in modern terms with inflation.

If you want to pay month by month, you are quite welcome to. You simply won’t have access to it in the months you don’t pay $15.
