What are some addons you’d strongly recommend for Classic WoW?

Old vanilla addons will not work in Classic. Classic is going to be using the modern WoW API since there are certain things Blizzard doesn’t want us doing and they aren’t going to make an exception for Classic in this regard.
The most likely scenario is that your modern wow addons will work with Classic or require a small patch to make them Classic compliant. Old vanilla addons that have no modern equivalent today would have to be updated to comply with the current addon API.
Classic will look and play like vanilla but under the hood its all modern wow’s code.

Outfitter: easily change between armor sets and outfits.
Gatherer: Track herbs and ore nodes you’ve found on the map.
Akis Recipe list: invaluable for profession completionists, it shows you all your unlearned recipes/patterns/plans, and where to find them.

okay but I’m sure there are still some addons that would be highly recommended.
Well there’s very basic things that I will use such as:
Bartender
Clique
Gatherer
Itemrack
Bagnon
Perl Classic
I am pretty sure those all existed in some form back in Vanilla.
Assuming the old vanilla version won’t work, hopefully someone updates the addon Questie for Classic.
I’m sure a lot of the addons will be updated once it’s released.

- Blizzard said alot of mods would be intentionally broken they even mentioned ones that decurse or spell rank choose for you by name.
- Until we find out which mods still will work it’s hard to name the ones you will want lol
Now if they work a threat meter would be good and inventory manager type would be good. Nothing else is really needed. And if they block those 2 the game will really get interesting with no threat meter.
Right now the guidance we have is expect ones that play for you and make decisions for you to not work.
Back in the day I had a combat interface that out my health bars, mana/combo points, buffs etc all in a HUD - I’ll be finding one of those for sure, I loved that mod.
Well know better what set of addons well get when we get to the beta.
I’d be looking for what I want to accomplish with addons instead of looking for names of addons.
UI management is probably going to be high on the list. Bags for sure since I hate the amount of landscape the default consumes.
Clickable UI for easier casting. Clique is simple and light weight but you could go with healbot or something like it.
Cast bar. One that shows latency. Very important for a ranged player.
If you are not well versed in vanilla quest chains then a coordinate addon would come in handy. (I personally suggest avoiding a quest addon that walks you through everything but if you need to WoWhead something coords help)

you won’t have LFD LRF or auto anything
Atlas Loot, since we won’t have loot tables in-game.
While on that topic, Atlas Maps, since we won’t have instance maps either.
Vanilla had LFD via inn keepers, the addon just cleans it up a bit, if enough people use that addon it’ll be just like retail’s LFD (which is based on the old addon)
The #nochanges club should be #noaddons but paradoxically want all the same changes they cry against to come via addon.
Oh just remembered one I really want in game…
I want to mouse over some gear in my inventory and see what I have equipped in that slot beside it!
Insta quest text is in the options. Do you mean auto accept/ turnin?
As for the OP I’ll be using the ones that increase functionality and clean up that sorry excuse for a UI.
I’ve listed them in multiple threads of the same topic.
Tldr: I’ll use what I need and adjust as needed depending on what gets ported, remastered, or what’s new.
Who knows maybe soneone will make a UI fron the ground up that has almost everything I need.
Just a shame Shagu says he won’t be updating PFUI. I’m so bummed about that…
PFquest is awesome too…
(PvP server) I can’t wait to use a KoS add-on again. Largely useless with sharding/crz.
