I like your enthusiasm , but I think rogues, Druids and hunters have far better control over picking a fight than a sham
Sorry all lose can just be feared away. Rogues can be tough if they get the jump but are pretty vulnerable when caught in the open.
Hunters are easy to run from.
Druids dont have an interrupt so cant stop fear or sheep.
Grounding is easily destroyed. Frost Shock is nowhere near as good as Hamstring spam, Crippling Poison, Wing Clip or any of the dozen snares in the mage’s kit. Ghost Wolf is also not worth much if you get any of the aforementioned snares on you.
A hunter will easily catch up to you, a druid will easily catch up to you, and a mage or rogue will also usually catch you with blink/sprint.
As for picking fights, rogues and hunters are much better at it. Hunters get aspect of the Cheetah and minimap tracking. Rogues get stealth and vanish. Druids aren’t as good but they can just run whenever they want.
Rogues and hunters are much better at picking their fights, and mages/locks are also very good at handling a 1vX scenario. I wouldn’t describe shamans as “good at wpvp”. They’re average at best.
It me.

So you bring up every other class who is best at something. Shaman is second best at everything so they can win most fights if you dont play into the other classes strength. Tauren warstomp makes shamans pretty op. I think most people think of shaman as two hand wf gamblers. I good ele/resto build will control every fight you toss their way.
Just go ask cdew who is best. He showed how to use all the tools a shaman has is just too much for other classes to handle.
Frost shock, earthbind, grounding, gw and tremor will make impossible to catch a shaman. If you do catch up shaman heals then runs again. Without cd up shaman wont be caught. Other than a war. I would rage when one would jump me. Its only fair because i just kite them when I jump them.
If you rely on luck, shamans have the most rewarding rng that can beat anyone every now and then. But also die a lot when you go oom or unlucky. Fun and simple, especially doing those big bursty hits.
Mages while strong, get easily 1 shotted. Maybe just stick with pom pyro.
Warlocks if played right, are the best 1v1 against most classes but also the most unpleasent to level and play. Group pvp youll get dunked on since people always target you due to your low armor, low mobility, and no hard defenses.
Warriors completely suck 1v1, everyone with a healer is good…
Pally is the same, but with 3 health bars.
Hunter, hunter while low damage output, is actually one of the better pvp classes as your max range and instant jump shots make up for lack of defense. You can kite most classes and eventually beat them by draining them out of mana or slowly dotting them/auto attacking.
Rogue has many counters, and if you wanna 1 shot anyone, you dont wanna play this class. It takes a few CDs to be able to properly beat someone. But it doesnt matter because you can select your fights and only open up when you are prepared and ready.
Priest are great 1v1 but thats about it. Without a bubble youll get 1 shotted.
Frost Shock has a 20 yard range, Earthbind a much smaller one, Grounding is only relevant against casters, tremor is irrelevant against most classes and is also easily stomped.
I’d love to live in your magical world where shamans can’t get caught by anyone despite other classes being faster than them. Especially when their only source of mobility has a cast time, and when every other class capable of slowing has more potent slows.
Dont be butt hurt because hunters are lunch for shamans. Have you heard of the pvp boots that make shaman almost as fast as mounts.
A hunter with the area on lockdown that gets the drop is pretty vicious if they can keep people out of range.
I always didnt have problems with hunters. I just frost shock spam and melee them to death. If they get range i heal or los them.
Goblin/Gnomish Rocket Boots aren’t exclusive to shamans, they can backfire, and aren’t going to negate concussive shot, scatter shot or traps.
There’s no reason for a hunter to lose to a shaman outside of duels. You have the kiting range and the tools to deal with just about everything a shaman can do. Especially the tools to get a shaman out of the deadzone/melee range.
That’s a 20 yard range spell. Now I’m not saying it’s every time, but you gotta be hauling to get in that 20 yards.
Its hard to keep a shaman in gw from getting in 20 yards. When wearing a shield you can just push through a hunters dmg. I didnt see alot of shaman wearing sheilds outside of full resto so i probably surprised alot with how tanky i was and still do alot of dmg.
I cant remember ever losing to one. I go after them in bgs. If i got a frost shock on them it was over.
Concuss, intimidate, one of the traps. Hunters are great at keeping people at bay. I’ve kited several shaman to death without even being touched in the open world. Things fall apart when I’m in an area that monsters aggro from a ways out, or another horde bops me.
Are you only fighting hunters that just sit there and don’t even try to kite? No wonder you’ve been beating those hunters, jeez.
How can you kite when a shaman is in gw with pvp boots? That is just a hair slower than a mount. 1 sec cast is not hard to get off fast.
Guessing they didn’t have improved gw. That is huge in getting away or chasing down.
So far your only answer to all of my arguments has been those mystical “pvp boots that make you go almost as fast as mount”.
They might Swift Boots, Goblin Rocket Boots or Gnomish Rocket Boots, it doesn’t matter. They either last a short amount of time and/or risk backfiring and screwing you over. A single Concussive Shot will negate those boots hard, and a Scatter Shot or Intimidation will seal the deal and force the shaman to go on the defensive when they come out of the CC.
You keep saying that they’re almost as fast a mount but you never say what those boots are except “muh pvp boots”. You also keep assuming that a shaman will have those and that a hunter won’t, which is ridiculous. Might as well assume the hunter has a rocket helm, grenades and the net trinket at that point.
TBC rogues had Cloak of Shadows. This isn’t the case in Classic, so rogues have a much more difficult time against locks (or any dot class, really).
