With “classic” MoP coming how far do you think Blizzard will take this whole “classic” train? Is “Classic” WoD in our near future?
until its no longer profitable
The closer to retail we get, the easier it is for them to do.
At this point they’ll probably just progress all the way up to retail, unless the population completely 100% collapses.
I actually very much enjoyed WoD and hope it gets a classic version.
i wouldn’t mind replaying legion and bfa
Wasnt legion the expac they tried to integrate starcraft into WoW and failed miserably?
Sign me up for WoD Classic
Classic the war within….
it was just too long but other wise WoD did have some good things going for it
if failed miserably equates to top expansion sales and regarded as a top 3 expansion. Then yes it failed.
I loved Legion but it’s not the best selling expansion.
My thoughts exactly.
Theyre going to keep going until it stops making money.
Expect MoP > WoD > Legion > BFA
Still not convinced that classic shadowlands would work out for them, but give it 5 years and we’ll see.
I am going to be honest… I can see them going all the way to retail and when it eventually catches up, time it with a new expansion launch there, and it dumps everyone into retail proper. Plus once they get there they have all the material made and tidied up and they can just cycle it over and over again. A to retail conveyor belt. Later cycles they could increase loot rate drops, shorten phases big time, and pump it harder and harder towards retail. This first time kinda feels like they are trying the “kinda keep that feeling from before” vibe but it doesn’t have to remain that way.
The only thing that would stop it is if the game truly dies. Like total ghost down shut down time, not your normal “it doesn’t have 8 million raiders” its dying stuff. When would this probably happen… well… WOD is a good opportunity for that I would be fooling myself to say otherwise. Shadowlands is probably another pointed spot.
The thing you have to remember with a few of these bad retail expansions that come later is BY THE END OF THEM they weren’t actually that bad. They just launched like crap… had extremely long content cycles that drove people away… but the systems and stuff that were often a MESS at the start get worked out. Points they were insanely stubborn on, refusing to move, and thus killing the player base, wouldn’t have to happen again. So it mostly just boils down to… as long as its making money and keeping some people subbed that wouldn’t… the train probably keeps rolling.
