Classic warrior: best classic macros?

i’ve specifically been trying to get one to work that takes me from thunder clap back to defensive stance but it doesn’t work. any other stance dancing macros or anything you can suggest would be nice as well.

Just this should work

/cast Thunder Clap
/cast Defensive Stance

You need to remember stances don’t share CD with the skills but they do with themselves and the same goes with the skill GCD, if you are trying to do: On Defensive Stance to go to Battle Stance, Thunder Clap and return to Defensive Stance on the same instant it wont work because the stances are on cd, but you can castsequence on it with 2 hits on the button

This might work

/castsequence reset=3 Battle Stance, Defensive Stance
/cast [stance:1] Thunder Clap

I’m not a pro macro-maker, just that I did pass something similar, it may have other way but I don’t know

I’ll show mines, I do also use the icon [ ? ] and the tag #showtooltip at start of my macros

The most basic that every warrior need

/startattack
/cast Heroic Strike

Or to starting

/startattack
/cast [nocombat, stance:1] Charge; Heroic Strike

For counter spells

/cast [stance:3] Pummel; Shield Bash

All have the same CD so why not put together

/cast [stance:1] Retaliation; [stance:2] Shield Wall; Recklessness

Need change stance in 1 button ?

/cast [mod:ctrl] Berserker Stance; [nostance:2] Defensive Stance; Battle Stance

Problems with Bar space ?

/cast [equipped:Gun, mod] Shoot Gun; [equipped:Crossbow, mod] Shoot Crossbow; [equipped:Bow, mod] Shoot Bow; [mod] Throw; [nocombat, stance:1] Charge; [stance:1] Mocking Blow; [stance:2] Taunt; Intercept
/startattack [nomod]

238 characters, if want put an specific mod or need more space you can shot the macro removing unneeded spaces, replacing equipped=worn and stance=form (thx Elvenbane on this)

This I didn’t try yet because I’m lack of talent points but I think it will work, its to charge-up before the battle for tanks, the end may change to your preference

/cast [nostance:1] Battle Stance
/castsequence reset=5 Charge, Defensive Stance
/cast [stance:2] Battle Shout

By the way Charge will be hide so its get confusing when the cd is not over

That will theoretically work if you have the rage to use it and you’re not on the GCD, but if you are on the GCD or don’t have the rage you’re going to go to defensive stance without using Tclap.

Given that the OP wants to go to D stance after a Tclap he seems to be trying set up a a macro for tanking purposes and the bottom line is that Tclap isn’t used for tanking and the macro he is trying to get is actually the opposite of what he should be going for. Instead of trying to get a macro that uses an ability and then swaps him to another stance he should be setting up macros that switch him to the necessary stance for that ability.

IE

#showtooltip Pummel
/cast Berserker Stance
/cast Pummel

#showtooltip Overpower
/cast Battle Stance
/cast Overpower

am i missing something then? i use thunderclap for tanking all the time in retail.

Tell the true you are missing is more practice on classic

Laintime just did tell what I didn’t mentioned about rage, about GCD I did lightly mentioned “You need to remember stances don’t share CD with the skills but they do with themselves and the same goes with the skill GCD

We don’t know in what situation you (Dekkar) are trying to use the macro so I mentioned what did think you are trying to do and that was (on D-Stance > B-Stance > T-Clap >D-Stance) and offered 2 choices the first is what you clearly ask the seconds is something similar to the answer Laintime offered to you with the option to go back to Defensive Stance (and just now I see that was swapped B-Stance and D-stance but now is corrected)

I also didn’t mentioned you the most important thing, you need to have at last 4 points on Arms > Tatical Mastery (hold 20 Rage) to be able to change stance and use Thunder Clap

The classic is far different, retail we just go to the mid of the mobs and aoe everything but classic we need to think how to manage every pull, sad people are most likely to do same they do on retail aoe FTW or hitting random mobs and let the tank take care of the rest, its a pain. What I do recommend if you can is: on the pull Charge > D-Stance > Demoralizing Shout (in the mid of a group) and start a rotation with Revenge or Sunder Armor to generate agro and Tab next, Shield Block also good to activate Revenge, Heroic Strike to dump extra rage (50+) if you have, I don’t like the skill for tanking but you can also use Cleave (20 rage), the rest is practice

I’ve used tclap for tanking, but it’s not the norm for various reasons. It’s got a target limit, cooldown, and a stance requirement, which is fine to dance sometimes, just not necessary for tclap.

I like to use it on big AoE pulls I can’t hold threat on over DPS going balls out just to help reduce their hits taken. That’s about it.

Otherwise I don’t touch the ability.

#showtooltip
/cast [nostance:3] Shield bash; Pummel

If you are in zerker stance, it’ll show pummel, if you are in defensive / battle itll show shield bash , pummel is a 10 second CD while shield bash is 12 seconds - but they share the CD of whatever one you used). Mostly only usefull if you put your interrupt on a bar that doesn’t change when you change stances
