I happen to enjoy BOTH for different reasons.
You have a 120, and I hazard a guess that you may have more than 1 level 120. So you are playing retail, or at least were up until classic release.
That being said and I am NOT trying to be mean but because one may like retail doesn’t make one a DERP automatically.
I don’t ever recall complaining about any of this happening? You sure you’re talking to the right person? I don’t care if it’s insults thrown around both ways I know classic is better so it isn’t hurting my feelings at all.

Well you said I can’t complain and that I should edit my post to say I’m glad it happens for some reason even though that’s not what I said at all. I’m not glad it happens, I’m not upset it happens. If someone comes in and talks about how great BfA is and classic sucks I’ll just make a comment about how bad BfA is and leave it at that.

What I find happens in these cases is people (Beefytank for example) come into a Classic forum and tell us that classic is bad (for whatever reason). So ya, people’s responses will be… go back to retail then.
To pull back a bit. Society has a whole is filled with extremists opinions that for whatever reason NEED to be heard…
If you like retail… great! if you like classic… great! you can like both.
If you wonder into one forum saying that version is bad… of course you’re going to be told to get lost.

The innate problem is that retail WoW lacks depth. So it’s difficult to have a civil discussion with somebody so easily entertained by shallow “content” such as pet battles.
To put it bluntly, just as you can be accepting of people, you have the right to find them detestable and completely discount their perspective because in most cases you will simply be cutting off a future point of frustration.
It’s a big reason why everything is so polarized overall. Not just in WoW, but also politically, and socially.
The problem is really outrage. Instead of just saying “ok” and blocking out what you may view is ignorance, it’s the advent of trolling for a response and the satisfaction to be derived from that response.
This just in humans are tribal and gravitate towards my team vs your team.

Humans like to group into factions and compete.
Its why Packers fans and Bear fans “hate” each other. I quote it because they really dont, they just enjoy the ribbing on each other and claiming their team is better and the other is trash.
90% of the fans would actually have a beer together. There are 10% who take it too seriously and actually hate the other side, but for the most part its done for the enjoyment of competition.
Humans enjoy competing view points because we like competition in general.

For the life of me I cannot remember who it was that said this.
Look, I love vanilla for it’s “time-gated” grind(it’s intentionally dragged out in as many ways possible), extremely simple boss mechanics and super basic class rotations. No joke, as a huntard, I can mark>serpent sting>arcane shot>autoshot>alt tab out on every mob. I was even doing this in dungeons.
I love retail for it’s skill based boss fights, mythic+ and reaction based class rotation/priority systems where you pretty much have something to hit on every GCD.
Both have their pros, both have their cons. Should anyone be picked on for liking one or the other? No.
In your head just hear Classic and Bfa, in place of Ebony and Ivory and we will all live happily ever after.
