Hey there, the Blizzard launcher just installed a small update for Classic WoW today. Now when I click “Play”, the launcher says “Launching” with “Game is running.” beside it for several seconds, then reverts back to the “Play” button. I tried a restart and it didn’t fix the issue, then tried reinstalling classic WoW which also did not work.
i am having the same crashing problem I had yesterday, game will instantly appcrash with the same error app timestamp 5f47dbbf. I thought they hot fixed it yesterday, but i guess not, i logged in fine last night. But back to the same problems this afternoon. I’m not touching anything this time, i fully resinstalled and messed my mods up already.
I’m not getting any crash report or anything. I also never see the game pop up in Task Manager’s process list.
Same problem for me as well. I reinstalled and it seemed to work until that same small patch loaded in battlenet.

Just did the little update on launcher and now game crashes when i push play and im getting the same error reason as Mikol
I spent a long time trying to fix this problem yesterday. I restarted my computer, deleted all of my addons, cleared all the cache/interface data, scan & repaired, none of this solved the problem until the game eventually updated.
The game was fine after update. Fine this morning. I get home and it’s doing it again. /sigh Please fix >.<
Unable to launch Classic but retail launches just fine. This started today>>World of Warcraft has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
Same issue as everyone above is describing. Worked fine for raid last night and worked fine this morning up until mid-afternoon when I tried to log back in.
It seems to launch fine the very first time after a reinstall but if I exit and try to enter the game again it crashes until I do another reinstall.
I log off wow classic and it prompt a update to the launcher. Once it updated it didn’t allow me to log back into the game anymore. I try to click the play button and it just crashes without loading anything. Tried to restart but i didn’t fix the issue. It was fine before today until 1am before i updated my launcher.
And now we have a million people all reinstalling thier games while Blizzard has problems with downloads. Classic.
found a temp fix this is copy and paste from another forum:
Confirmed, in the stupidest workaround of all time : if you go into your classic folder and double-click WowClassic.exe several times, the third or so game client will run.
This did, in fact, work. Really bad workaround >.<
Same problem here. Why does Blizzard release these pointless updates/hotfixes that break the game?
I’ve been getting the following error all day and have not yet been able to update/reinstall/launch WoW classic successfully no matter what I do.

I don’t know whether this is relevant, but after having this issue on my desktop as well I installed classic on my laptop which has windows 10. It works fine.
My desktop has windows 7. Maybe it’s an issue with that?

AMD processor, Win7 64-bit
I know someone else with this same problem they also have an AMD processor running Windows 7 64-bit
Seems like a weird compatibility quirk that will be resolved within 48 hours
I have the same issue also. The game starts when I click play, shows up in task manager for a second and then crashes. Pretty much exactly like the op described.
Add another tally to the issue. The only very minor difference is once the client ‘started’ to launch, saw the login screen with “connecting” before it crashed back to the launcher. that was one out of… many tries. Otherwise hit Play, it says launching, says game is running, then goes back to saying play with nothing launched. Only started with today’s patch.
