I was sick of bfa and enjoyed classic at first but once the sharding was implemented it just hasn’t felt the same, its almost like i’m on a bfa server again. Remove the sharding if you want to keep players like me.
By sharding do you mean layering?? And do you understand what would happen if there were no layers? Because by your post it doesn’t seem like you do.
The phasing will be taken out in a few months, maybe take a break and come back later?
I’m fine if you leave, not too worried.
Obvious troll is obvious. Why?
Because layers was always here. If that was a problem for you, you wouldn’t have enjoyed classic at all!
I also really can’t stand layering, it’s literally the only thing that greatly impairs my enjoyment of the game right now which aside from this “feature” is fantastic.
Ion Hazzikostas promised to remove layering “a couple of weeks” into Classic. The question is, can he hold that promise considering the state of the servers? I don’t think so at all. An extremely ambitious promise to have made, and one that’s looking to backfire if the state of the servers is going to remain close to the way they are now, as in, insanely full with increased caps, still bearing queues, and so on.
Better start cozying up to the idea of having layering for months, maybe even up until 5 mins before P2, rather than actually see it removed a “couple weeks” in as was promised. What a shame for the game, but i’ve seen that coming for a while now so it’s either roll with it or try and come back in a couple months when it might finally be gone aka you’ll be able to play the actual game as intended originally.
Layering will stop completely in phase 2. Just hang in there another month or so.
don’t let the door smack you on the way out.
I just play and enjoy, don’t even notice what layering is or does…seems to be very crowded wherever I go.
I dont know why everyone is clambering for removing layering. If they were to remove layering right now, any medium to high level server would have so many people fighting over mobs, you would most likely not get anything done. Im on a high population realm, and if layering didnt exist, it would be an absolute nightmare.
Layering is way better than sharding anyway. It should be the successor on retail.
IMO there are too many people in quest areas right now. Feel like any time I try to quest I have to fight with a dozen other players for spawns. Even worse when you need to kill a named.
Layering has been part of Classic since the very first second it went live.
Its already like that for the first 20 levels. The herd thins the higher you get but its downright awful on most servers atm just starting out.
Don’t be silly. He said their plan was to use it the first few weeks in the context of how to deal with overpopulation making the game unplayable (he mentioned having 1000 players in a single area – the server could handle it, but everybody would have a miserable time because of competition for quest objectives, etc.).
Nobody but a loony would take that as any sort of promise. They expected a launch consisting of people coming in, checking it out, and not staying. If that drop-off doesn’t happen, then obviously the plan is going to change, because the issues caused by overpopulation won’t magically go away unless people do.
they said this when everyone was quitting at the start of cata
they kept saying it
then there were under a mil subs
Problem I have now is…the community knows and uses it all too often.
Guildies and in General chat…non stop…“layer me”. So they can layer over and leave a pvp fight, get quest mobs, etc.
You’re terminology is all wrong. Barring that. While the layering sucks, and isn’t part of the “classic experience” without you wouldn’t be able to complete any quests or kill any mobs. There would be way to many people in each zone. You joined in during a launch. The majority of people are around the same level. So there are a ton of people going after the same things. It took me three hours to do three quests in the Charred Vale over in Stonetalon yesterday. I am not a fan of layering what so ever, and will be glad to see it removed in phase two, but it is a necessary evil of you want any chance of leveling up, because with out it, it would either be a war for mobs, and loot items, or lines so big you could see them a zone away.
Can I have your stuff??
Who cares? slippery slope argument is outdated and tired.
no one should care if this guy leaves due to necessary layering.
