This character is not in a guild and only has a handful of other characters from my server on my friends list. When I send mail to my alts names show up that I don’t recognize as I start typing. Disabling all addons I still see the same issue.
Where do these names come from? Thanks!
Try a proper UI reset
It’s just a auto fill to make mailing quicker, instead of typing the name and realm out all the time. If you press tab you can move down the list of names.
So it’s random people from my server?
With the same starting letters, it’s just a prediction trying to make it easier for you.

As an altoholic, I am constantly mailing alts. Okay, a little less in Classic with its 1-hour delay. Maybe I only do it 20 times per day.
Years ago I made sure that each of my characters starts with a different letter. So when mailing I can type ONE letter to mail an alt (Blizzard always chooses my alt names first).
its usually limited to people you have on your friends list , your own alts, or your guildies.
it might also be people that youve recently whispered though i dont know.
