I played a Rogue on a PvP realm back in vanilla WoW from 2004-2007ish…about halfway through TBC. Then I created a Priest. When I played my Rogue, the only reference I had to if it was any fun was that I just got through playing EQ for 5 years. The Rogue was more fun than playing EQ. I haven’t really played a Rogue much since 2007, and it has always been on retail.
Well, I decided to create a Rogue a few days on Shadowstrike. Things were going ok until I hit level 15. Now it seems like I can’t hit more than half my attempts. I have been using daggers since I started, so my skill is fine. I had a Defias Smuggler (level 11) start walking away from me and all I saw was:
MISS
MISS
MISS
MISS
MISS
MISS
MISS
MISS
WTF!!!
I started paying attention more to my hits and misses and I miss a whole lot.
My character has average gear for the level, no different than this Priest at the same level. This is lame. Do Rogues really suck that bad, or is it just me?
Attack lower level mobs.
Ideally, green mobs.
You’ll miss heaps if you dual wield. I had the same thing happen to me when I tried leveling an arms warrior back during WotLK. Swapped to arms and picked up a 2h weapon. Way smoother.
For rogue, you’ll want to take any talents that boost your hit rating, and if you get hit rating on gear, you’ll wanna hang on to it.
I think the first +hit gear available is from Maraudon.
Probably. And they’ll want it.
Leveling as daggers sucks! Get sword skill up to your current lvl and start speccing into Precision, in the combat tree, asap.
If you can’t backstab you aren’t a real roog. Also swords are dumb

I dont have that problem on my level 60 Classic rogue, or my level 13 Classic rogue, or my level 11 Classic rogue or my level 20 Classic rogue. So it must be on you.
Its just you. Practice. I only do DW dagger play on my rogues. Nothing else.
Just use a macro to swap in a dagger when you want to back stabby stab!
ya its definitely u i think

SoM’s the first time I’ve ever leveled a murder hobo.
I know the meta is swords, but I am having so much fun dual wielding daggers and being all stealthy that I’ve decided to stick with it. It’s not like this toon is ever going to a raid unless something really weird happens.
I spent three hours in Duskwood last night sneaking up on Worgen, stabbing them in the face, then cackling as I skin them.
Oh, God… Was I role playing?
Someone hold me.
I’m so cold.

It is just you. If the dw miss chance wasn’t so high, rogue damage early would be stupid.

You should only fight green level mobs.
Being a sub dual dagger rogue is a good spec. I can sneak and kill. You can take out mobs or people quickly

My level 60 and this rogue are both DW dagger Sub.
