I think classic restart is a bad idea, however maybe they could merge two low pop servers and create a fresh server instead? It kinda ruins the community for those merged servers, but it shouldn’t be any worse than the free server transfers.
I like the idea of new servers, but not the idea of merging or bringing non-new characters to new servers. Doing so doesn’t really seem to solve any problems.
Though, merging low pop servers may solve problems, if they exist.
Um, all of the regular population. And yes-- there was very much a long-term, settled, international regular population. When one server’s content was completed, they migrated to the next, fresh server. (Excuse me, F R E S H server. )
And tbh, I agree with the OP’s idea. I think it’s the safest plan for Blizzard to follow. The second time around, they’d not launch near as many servers for Classic, because the bulk of the population would likely be moving on to TBC. But there will always be enough interest to keep a current server up.
I don’t like servers merges too, but we have to face reality we can’t just keep adding and adding servers. There has to be a merge.
I mean, if it makes sense to merge servers rather than have dead ghost-town servers, I think it’s a good idea.
If Everquest progression servers are anything to go by, the moment you release another set of servers with different sets of rules is the moment the old servers are dead.
They’re going to need to at some point, some of them are pretty low now, where are they going to be 6 months after Naxx when there’s nothing new to look forward to
Exactly, you admit you have nothing so you’re trolling. Thanks for proving the point.
And I’m not taking anything personally or even getting upset, I’m just pointing out how wrong and a troll you are.
Oh look, another Classic elitist. You’re just invalidating anything you say by acting this way.
You really need to just get over yourself with this attitude.
Says the 120, prob just one of that guys alts
Oh look I’ve got a 120 too I’m so cool

Oh look I switched to my old forum character just to annoy you, it’s such a stupid comment “so says the 120”

The only thing I will say about retail is that a little over a week ago I started a new hunter on a retail server. When I started autoshooting a wolf in the starting zone my gun kept firing as the wolf came into melee range and until my point blank infinite bullets killed it. I of course had a pet to help me in my point blank melee shooting because hunters are born with a pet at their side. After awhile, I concluded “what’s the use in this?”
I honestly could care less what people post on.
Don’t mind BC servers, the rest of this is dumb.
There is a point though to fresh classic servers, a lot of people aren’t just going to farm Naxx forever and also aren’t going to move to TBC.
Many people would want to race to be the first again. It just would need to be like 1 or 2 fresh servers.
Yeah really, but if some little level 17 is gonna shoot his mouth off and then have nothing to say when challenged but, “post on your classic alt” I’m gonna tell him to shut up about retail unless they post on a 120
I never really got into the whole FRESH thing from the pservers. My feeling was always like, you can just reroll, do you really need the whole server to reroll with you? But clearly there’s a portion of the playerbase that likes the idea of “seasonal” servers or new servers every six-twelve months. So we’re going to continue to hear this come up.
As long as they don’t do anything dumb like wipe the servers (which they won’t), I wouldn’t have a problem with them releasing a new server at some point.
I did, what now?
No.
I hate reset buttons.
Blizzard has been trying to consolidate everyone more evenly onto all the current Classic servers.
Nobody wants to split up or start over again.
Just let us play with what we have. Stop trying to reinvent the wheel.
