it came out on November 30 2023. It was a failed experiment to see how the playerbase would like classic+ and it wasnt very popular. Its also why they TBC-cata arent even classic servers anymore because they are only popular for a week or two then die off.
People dont want to admit it but retail is very popular and quite good rn despite most forum, social media influencers, etc trying to dis on it for points and clicks

How was cata not popular? Had more raiders than the rest of the versions combined if excluding retail.

Thats factually not true we can pull up the logs from warcraft logs where it barely scratched like 1/4th but it was the most popular raiding classic era xpac thats for sure

tbd currently suing a version of wow and just making it more popular
from what ive seen they ended up losing all but like 30 players down from like 300. There wasnt really that many playing just allot of bots. the major issue was them trying to monetize it and having spyware in their game

Wanna compare the player numbers to the beloved versions of the game in their hayday.

Development has ceased, to say its out now is not a good faith argument.
however a pretty damn good example is still being developed before our eyes that continues to grow despite thee attempt to sue and destroy.
I wonder how much Blizzard pays for those lawyers and whether or not it goes beyond what was spent on a small team and a bunch of interns to develop the closest thing to customer demand(classic+) to date.
The demand is there, The will to deliver is not.
Blizzard unintentially set in motion the ability for a private server to grow as much as it has.

beloved is a strong word. I admit they were good for their time but there is a reason classic era servers arent that popular it leads to allot of people realizing retail is just better from QoL and content wise.

Secord my opinion that seasonal = C+ isn’t “wrong” it’s just not in line with your perception.
Twow is not all that and certainly not my idea of what C+ should look like. But as always ymmv - and in this case we’ve seen that it does. Which is fine by me.

IMO, no.
Most players that I have spoken to that like MMORPGs don’t enjoy having the effort they put in thrown into the garbage the second a new season or phase comes out. Vertical progression is bad for MMOs and its truly inarguable. MMOs are supposed to be living, breathing worlds, not instanced simulators. Retail WoW is no longer an MMORPG. It’s basically just a game that has a bunch of built-in mini games. If you don’t have friends to play with then it isn’t really all that appealing.
My evidence is the amount of people that play PS across the entire spectrum, and then everyone actively paying Blizzard for a sub and playing one of their several versions of classic. Combine those altogether and it’s likely similar numbers in player counts.
One type is actually stylized on MMORPG gameplay, and the other is not but only wears the skin/face of an MMORPG.

This is one of the biggest pain points for me with retail at the moment. Also, once the next raid comes out the previous ones are obsolete for gear and are now only useful for tmog and mounts.

Lol if retail were a good game, I would be playing it right now. The war within is by far the worst expansion. I would rather play shadowlands again.

Most players that I have spoken to that like MMORPGs enjoy having the effort rewarded and enjoy grinding new gear and understand just having constent same gear leads to hyper power creep like in destiny 2.

Player numbers says otherwise, bud.
How do you go from 12 million peak all-time players to 1.2 million on a good day for peak numbers. Concurrent numbers are only a fraction of that.
