Classic Realm Population

It would be nice if Blizzard would allow and/or provide realm populations for the WOTLK classic realms.

  • Currently they give vague new player, low, medium, high, full statuses.
  • Ironforge is only good for raids that log (recently) and arena PVP.
  • wowclassicpop used to work at one point, however Blizzard hamstrung it by not allowing the /who to be completely automatic and reduced the amount of time between /who to the point that using it on a full realm such as Grobbulus will either never complete before logging off or it will be incredibly inaccurate as it took too long to complete to get a good reading on who is actually online.

Blizzard would like us the player to make informed decisions and move to other servers (new and/or transfer only) to alleviate the queue problem but without being able to see how these servers are changing in addition to the servers we’re currently on, there is no way we can make an informed decision that won’t bring us back here in X amount of weeks or months…

Blizz ain’t about to tell the stock market exact numbers.

To make that data useful it would have to include more than just population. You would want to know total number of max-level characters that log in x-number of hours per week, among other things.

These metrics absolutely exist, but its very unlikely Blizzard will share them publicly.

True. It would need to include not just the number of toons for each level (or level range), but where it could be seen from a range of day(s) to see how that population and level range is changing per day/week.
