Edit: Defined the questions better:

  1. Will ranking end on the 18th?
  2. If yes, will the honor from that week rollover before server restarts and contribute toward a new title if they had the honor for it?
  3. If no, when will ranking end?

I think “ranking” ends if you transition to TBC.

if you plan on sticking to classic I think they’ll let you continue ranking, because without classic PVP ranking, PVP would probably dip in player participation

Second this. Would love to get an official blue post to end all the guessing and speculations.

King’s honor, friends (and horde)! I was also hoping for an answer on this as are plenty of other people currently enjoying the PvP system in Classic WoW.

Personally, I believe honor will be calculated and snapshotted when the servers go down. If this is not the case, it would be very cruddy to pay to clone my character and receive the next rank title in Classic Era but not Burning Crusade Era.

His 2nd question is very valid and on the mind of most rankers who expect to hit their desired rank on 5/18, i.e. will 5/11 - 5/18 be a dead week or will the honor be tabulated and counted on 5/18, and rank title granted?

If it isn’t credited to a new rank, will the honor earned in the week before pre-patch be turned into honor that is available for use to purchase gear?

I’m still on the honor grind in hopes that I will achieve the rank of Grand Marshal come May 18th. I may have started “ranking” late in Classic WoW, but I have put in the hours, and I’ve made the sacrifices necessary to see this through.
I know a lot of people are in the same boat. I hope Blizzard will respond to this. I’d hate to put in another 100+ hours of PvPing the next two weeks to not have my rank update on May 18th due to a technicality.

Unsure why there was never a dedicated Classic PvP forum, that would have been the place to ask for and find the answers to questions that massively impact player time contribution, such as “Will there be rank calculations and awards on May 18th?”
DO NOT expect an answer of any sorts, right or wrong.

If you are ranking, KEEP IT UP until at least May 18th.

Definitely a good question. Did someone confirm this was the case leading up to the original TBC pre-patch? I realize that won’t necessary mean anything this time around, though. I didn’t start PvPing much until TBC, so I don’t remember.
