Classic PvP better than retail

Yeah I said it, classic has far better PvP than retail.

If you don’t play retail arena it’s officially way worse than anything you can think of in classic. Do warriors and ele shaman make you a lil crazy with their skill burst? Well that aint nothin son, corruption arena makes WoW classic PvP look perfectly balanced.

So next time you think classic PvP is just bad, remember it could be worse, way worse, at least with classic I have fun and don’t randomly explode because of rng, instead it takes 3 arms warriors charging me at the same time or being at distance vs a couple wizards.

Classic PvP is rough, it’s brutal, it’s unforgiving and doesn’t play nice if you are soft, weak or whimpering about, but at least it’s predictable, fun and exciting unlike the retail contemporary.

Vanilla pvp is rock paper scissors based on minimum 10 participants on each side

Rock paper scissors between builds yes, not always between the classes. Yeah arena did introduce some problems, but truly minor in overall game play as long as you play with classes that synergies well. That’s the trouble that arena has always been plagued by, and something inescapable to a degree in a game with dynamic classes.

Arena also made them eliminate bursty playstyle

classic pvp you get one shot but who cares you respawn in 30 seconds

its more fun when things actually can die

Less common in some expansions, but still very possible. Wrath, Cata and Mists had close to vanilla of you ignore Arms and Ele, the other vanilla class burst is really not all that bad right now, AQ does make balance, shadow and retribution truly terrifying. Wait for the warrior QQ about ret a few months into AQ.I

Not complaining, it’s just nail biting fast because you know you could die fast, but at least it’s a player controlled damage…

Mists could possibly be the most balanced, it has burst PvP with counter play, and still had player controlled damage and it was super fun no matter the class. To me and it’s only opinion TBC was actually really close but some classes were just better than others in regard to fun, but in mists it was all hilarious, but well balanced post patch 5.2

People talk about not wanting Classic expansions past WotLK but I hope they take this train all the way to MoP just for the PvP. MoP had the best PvP in the game, especially after Ele and BM was toned down. WoD was the last expansion where I enjoyed PvP and that I actually played. I played it very casually in Ashran and BGs which must’ve helped as I heard people say the arena sucked.

I like the rulesets in the Classic BG’s better (no WSG timer etc), but I understand that not everyone feels that way. I guess I’ve never found arenas to be all that compelling anyway. I’d also rather fight a tough battle for an hour than have a quick resolution in 10mins (HpH be damned).

I didn’t mind BfA’s PvP when I played it, but I really started to lose interest in that expansion over the last couple of content patches (Nazjatar, corruption, etc), not necessarily all related to PvP.

Mists servers just for arena and battle grounds, I don’t think I would ever log off.

I agree with above comment about the vanilla WSG rule set being better, the timer really harms the fun of the map, I also preference the vanilla AB resources limit at 2000, it just feels better and expands the experience.

MoP was one of the expacs I didn’t play from the start, but decided to get to max level, grind the water strider mount from fishing dailies, and focus on arenas.

If they end up re-releasing it, I’d actually like to play through the challenge mode dungeons and raids.

Im hoping they do release a classic MoP, I thoroughly enjoyed that expansion from release to the end of the expansion.

Personally, I like the fast paced, extreme damage of classic PvP. It feels like abilities actually hit very hard, and it also makes people play more as a team to protect healers, since healers cannot spam heals endlessly on themselves when tanking 2-3 DPS.

In retail PvP, it feels like no damage is happening, and healers reign complete supreme.

I’m going to take heat for this but let’s be real.

I have to admit that while retail PVP is terrible, so is classic mostly. My experience in Classic is that if you open, you win. If you don’t you lose, except if you are a pally or priest.

It’s too simple. Class/counter-class doesn’t matter much when health pools are too low to matter. Even PVE frost specced I can line up a death sequence on anybody without a PVP trinket or has their trinket on CD outside of a mage with ice block or a pally within 5 seconds.

And it has nothing to do with anything beyond me sheeping them first. That’s not really all that skillful or engaging. There’s a lot more give and take in BC and even Wrath.

The only classic PVP I really enjoyed at all was tarren mill and southshore before honor was released. That was a lot of fun.

If there ever was a classic plus I would revamp PVP so that there was a weekly cap on honor, you could only earn it in BGs, and maybe I would roll out Arenas but cap that at like 8-10 matches a week. Then attach some sort of high value target and rep system to world PVP that was completely separate from honor.

Classic PvP is the worst pvp system ever created. Retail is far superior and I haven’t played retail in over a year and not to excited bout the next xpac.

You might enjoy PvP In classic more and that’s perfectly understandable.

But the PvP system itself, the ranking system/grind is absolutely horrible and by far the worst PvP system WoW has had.
