Classic: Proper pvp opener for combat swords

Hey Hi, for classic rogue I’m wondering what PVP openers from stealth you use for combat swords. Do you open with the garrote DoT or the 2 second cheap shot stun? Do you immediately spend a couple points in slice and dice for attk speed next, expose armor, or start building for finishers? Which Finishers are you using, Rupture for the DoT, eviscerate for the burst, or kidney shot for the stun? There’s a lot of different skills to use and not sure which is best overall.

Thanks for any help.

Noob here, but afaik:

Vs. Rogue: Cheap Shot into Rupture

Vs. Clothies: Consider swapping to MH dagger and Ambush, if not CS to build combo pts for Kidney Shot.

Vs. Plate: CS to expose armour and build for Kidney Shot

Anyone with actual experience beyond me tripping over my troll rogue feet is very welcome to correct me.

Typically you open with cheap shot or ambush and spend combo points on kidney shot or eviscerate.
The other abilities are useful too but in niche situations.

I wouldnt advocate for slice and dice in pvp because slice and dice is more for sustained damage and you need burst in pvp, other players will be kiting you so your slice and dice often wont have enough uptime to be worth it. Thats not to say never use it, its just kinda niche, like use it when you are in group pvp and have combo points on a guy that is about to die regardless of what you do so it will be up for the next guy?

Expose armor is typically for group play (especialy in pve where there’s no warrior applying sunder) or to be used on a sapped character before you restealth to open on them. It’s great to use on warriors, druids, and priests but a kidney shot is still more useful to use most of the time if they are currently fighting back.
