Hey sorry if this isn’t the right place but i couldn’t decide what was better between this or the classic general discussion so i thought here would be fitting
I’m planning to play classic with a friend of mine and i was wondering how big of a thing race is because i know Dwarves were really good for priests but i don’t really want to play as one, would i still be accepted to groups if i were playing a Night Elf or Human priest?
I never played vanilla myself so i’m not completely sure how big of a thing race was but i heard a lot about fear ward being really good, planning to play as a healer priest.
Thanks for any replies and sorry if this is better off on the classic GD i just couldn’t really decide where to post
You’ll be accepted into anything if you’re a priest.

Just go dwarf, and name it lightbeer.
Fear ward is 100% essential if you want to get into raiding. If you dont plan to raid at all, the other races are fine. The starshards ability for night elf priests can be decent for pvp or soloing, and IIRC humans get some kind of self heal.

I personally feel that Fear Ward is too good not to have but to each his own.
As a rule i normally like dwarves… any class that wears mail. But with a clothie i have to go human. Dwarves in robes look silly. So human it is for my priest in classic
I wont be raiding hardcore so human priest is what i am playing.
Play what makes you happy, you will be spending a lot of time staring at it
Play whichever race you want. Dont feel like you have to min/max Classic. Its a game, have fun

I made my Human yesterday and had fun leveling through Elwynn, i feel like i made the right choice even if it isn’t the best.

Just remember somehow the Horde cleared content without fear ward. But maybe they just used UD priests, popped Wotf and had them cleanse everyone.

Tremor Totem
But it’s obviously not as good as Fear Ward.
@OP play whatever you want to look at! Dwarf is OK, so is night elf or human. If a raid group is only inviting dwarf priests, they’re probably bad at this game, honestly! And unless you’re on the absolute cutting edge of raiding (which you’re not, or else you’d be managing some kind of poop sock or catheter rig instead of making this thread, but I digress), your priest racials wll not impact you that much.
Night elf is a sleeper in my opinion because Shadowmeld is so damn strong in pvp. And in general/solo play… The only thing that will ever limit you is your mana bar, and being able to recuperate in Stealth between encounters is a huge deal. I’m sure you can imagine the pvp implications of Stealth on a priest–immobile Stealth, granted, but it can be a game changer. Much moreso than Fear Ward.
Human is awesome and cute and that’s what I’ll be playing! Purely for the aesthetic. They have my least favorite priest racials. Rep bonus is cool though. I guess.

Just note that Shadowmeld in classic cannot be used in combat. So it cannot be used to drop out of combat to drink or drop aggro from mobs.
It’s only a stationary stealth ability.
We will love our human priests even without fear ward
Just as valuable in pvp and in the open world. And for getting the jump on your enemies with a stealthed MC cast. As someone said. Somewhere.
Hi Moringa, it’s me, Eggman :o)
When it comes to hardcore raiding, i’d say Dwarf, but in the end if you just play for fun, then you’ll do fine.
I loved pvping as a NE priest. fearing someone into oblivion then running to hide and eat in stealth is so strong. or rezzing far from your body and instantly melding so you can heal up and fight those corpse campers. it is very good imo. starshards is kinda meh. was much better when it became insta cast in tbc but elunes grace isnt anything to scoff at.
Human priest is going to be better for raiding. That fear ward is situational but humans have a +5% to spirit, which is a permanent advantage to mana regeneration. When it comes down to sustaining your mana (and it will come down to that a lot in classic raids) The human advantage is better. Dwarves are great for PVP, but humans rule raiding.
