Classic plus thoughts?

I’d like to kno what you guys think we will see out of classic plus. Will this be old school wow w/ new quest? or will this be new wow “graphics” ect… with new quest…

Has classic plus been announced or is this just hypothetical?

If I had to guess:

Class updates to all be viable and the elimination of meme specs while bringing in some of the talents from TBC/Wrath. Hopefully no more 20 warrior stacks.

New race, likely high elves, that can be horde or alliance.

Retail QoL changes with a modern engine and UI.

Same old world and quests.

Scaling raids like they did in SoD.

Horde pallies and alliance shaman.

H

Hypothetical.

I have no thoughts.

I would say since they have gone past Wrath and I would even add Cata since it used a streamline version of the original spec trees Classic plus would look like retail .

I actually lol’d on this post..

I thoughts on classic plus is they’ll slowly iterate on the original game, making changes based on a combination of player feedback, current gaming trends, and internal data.

We can start with expanding the story to go to ourland. We can give the Horde Blood Elves to counteract the issue where most Horde races are ugly, and we could make up something new and interesting to make up for the Alliance not getting High Elves despite their prominent place in the Alliance for both Warcraft 2 and 3.

We could call it the Burning Crusade, and tie up the plot points about Illidan, the Draenei, and the Orc’s decaying homeworld.

And well travel back to 2007 to release it so we’ll have time to make another dozen or so additions by the time we reach the present day.

We could call them expansions.

best they can do is 20 warrior stacks and let ret pallies play the game, enjoy C+.

The only thing I’d really count on is an attempt at keeping leveling cohesive and the old world relevant as content moves forward.

Classes, races, what systems get added, all up in the air.

There is some talk from Classic CCs that “Titan Reforged” is a beta test for some sort of new development. But no official word on what that might be. Also, they have talked about Season of Discovery (SoD) being a testing ground for something.

If there is something new it would probably be announced or perhaps discussed at BlizzCon in September.

You already got classic+ it’s called season of discovery.

The level of hopium “classic+” is starting to reach is meme tier. It’s this esoteric vision inside classic players’ heads of what “classic+ should be” and it’s exacerbated by the fact that (somehow) everyone thinks they want the same things. So much so that the expectation of classic+ is self sustaining and any small ambiguous detail is being upgraded to major significance.

You could take the most cult of classic players and use them in a case study, put them in Goldshire and tell them that a GM is coming to announce something related to classic soon™. You’d make a reality show of nothing happening but somehow they’d flesh out the entire game and live the experience through their collective imagination, only to be given SoD 2 but better-er and lap it up only to say they hate it 1 month in and move to wrath anniversary.

Meh, same as regular classic. Been there done that. I feel no need to repeat it.

And it was very hype.

My thoughts? If it’s too different the Classic Andies will be mad and won’t play it, so it may as well have just been added to Retail

If it’s too similar then it’s just a waste of development and they should’ve just released Classic again

tl;dr: No one is going to be happy no matter what they do with it

Hypothetical but you will hear people screaming it is coming, like they know. It could be cool. But how many game modes can they support? It already makes it hard to play retail and classic, but throw in multiple versions of classic and then SoD that made it worse.

Blizzard will not only be constrained by deadlines and budgets, but it would actively be competing against the other Classic servers, Retail, and Diablo games for said budgeting.

The Classic+ everyone fans themselves dreaming about will realistically never happen. Remind yourselves who is in the leadership right now and what is constantly expected from said leadership. Private Servers are the only places you can ever get your dreamed Classic+ because they are not constrained by corporate interests and instead have as much time as they need to go with their passions for it (as long as they don’t go full dum-dum and get aggressive with donations and cash shops and start advertising directly at Blizzard).

How does Season of Discovery align with this theory?

Doubt. If anything this recent debacle with Epoch, TWoW, and Ascension proved that only Blizzard has the expertise to actually execute on the vision. All it takes is Blizzard aligning both the will and profit incentives to actually do it.

Retail is Classic+
