Hello - once I tame a cat that has Prowl, does it unlock that ability for any cat I can tame? Or only cats that have the Prowl ability?
Any tameable cat can learn prowl - once you learn it from a cat that has it.
Just taming a cat with prowl doesn’t give you the ability to teach it to other cats. You have to fight using that cat for a bit until you see a yellow notification in chat that you have learned the ability.

I got a 32 Mountain Lion with Prowl from Alterac, but was hoping I could get a different cat and still have it with the ability.

If you hit the beast taming spell on the first tab in your spell book (looks like a Y shaped sling shot), it will list all the pet abilities you know that you can train to other pets.
If Prowl is there, you can teach it to any cat that meets the minimum level requirement and has enough training points.
