Clearly this thread is going to go well considering we’re all civil people here and no insults and accusations will be thrown about so here we go.
Follow should be re-implemented into classic battlegrounds so multiboxers can participate when battlegrounds come out. The original claim that it was removed was to combat bots. A simple and elegant solution to this would be to only allow follow to people those they qued together with prior to joining the BG.
The framework for this system already exists but i’m not a programmer so what do I know. I did actually contact multiple career developers and asked what it would take to implement such a system. The highest estimate I got was 15 minutes.
(Not hyperbole)
Content for paying players shouldn’t be gated off simply due to a difference in playstyle that blizzard themselves have said is acceptable and within the TOS.
Whatever your (strong) opinions may be I’m merely asking to be able to play within the rules, content that was accessible in 1.12 vanilla for my preferred method of play.
If blizzard came out and said they’re banning multiboxing and is against the TOS tomorrow then I’d be okay with it. What i’m not okay with is them saying it’s okay then introducing systems to specifically target multiboxers then say it’s to fight off bots. I do not like being lied to directly to my face and told it’s totally the truth. It’s just insulting.
I already know this thread will most likely be drowned out with a huge amount of incorrect assumptions and statements about multiboxing but that’s just par for the course at this point.
Who would ever want a sub 2200 ranked player on your team? Is a multiboxer worse than 2-5 keyboard turning melee hunters without pets? If it’s a factor of capacity and skill it goes beyond multiboxing.
Follow was in vanilla, and vanilla multiboxers enjoyed battlegrounds, I was on the receiving end of 40 shamans and it was a fantastic and memorable experience. Follow should absolutely be in classic. Captplanet has provided an excellent post with a great work around. Will Blizzard ignore this? Probably. Prove me wrong one time since Activillian took over. Or did everyone at Blizzard lose their jobs?
By the way, when Blizzard said “Don’t you guys have phones?!?!” I lost all respect for them. They said this after canning their entire phone support staff, leaving dyslexic people to struggle. Don’t YOU guys have phones Blizzard?
It is fun to watch them explode enemies on your team
They are immensely powerful in BGs and do EXTREMELY well. 5 man multiboxed teams in BGs are amazing. Perfect for AB and AV not as much for WSG except camping GY.
Original poster, please provide a source for the claim that /follow was removed from battlegrounds to combat bots. Here is the source for the direct information about who removed it and why: https://twitter.com/holinka/status/309326759252336641
It was removed by Brian Holinka because of a multiboxer named Infinilock that destroyed him in a battleground. When /follow was removed and many found out by joining a battleground, no one at Blizzard except for Brian Holinka knew because there was nothing in the patch notes at the time it was removed. When tickets were opened the response was they would get back to them once they found out. It was a day or two later that people learned it was intentionally removed by Brian Holinka.
in reality, multiboxing takes really bigbrain skills and most brainlets cant even comprehend the skill and bigbrainedness required to be a multibox god. they jelly.
