Classic mining bugged?

Just curious if anyone else may be having this problem. im trying to get my classic mining to 300 (currently at 290) and have mined well over 50 rich thorium veins without receiving a point in mining skill. im unsure if this is a bug or im having REALLY bad luck getting my mining skill up.

not sure but try starting up with outland node see if u can lvl that way…or option 2 if that’s still doable(Mist of Pandaria Nodes)…they use to be catch up nodes in pandaria but idk if still work with the change blizz did during legion//bfa

Edit: ok so my info is out date for you Bean after seeing Sparx post…well poor decision on blizz part…they could of leave the catch up stuff untouched for Classic-WoD expact

BC nodes will only level Outland Mining. Everything is expansion-specific as of Legion’s launch.

Unfortunately there’s not much you can do besides continue mining in 'nilla to get those last 10 points. I know it’s possible, but the rate of skillups seems abysmally low compared to pre-Legion mining.

I don’t remember if Rich Thorium cuts out at 290 or 295 but it definitely doesn’t go all the way to 300. Your final points for Classic will come from either smelting Dark Iron Ore (requires a quest in BRD) or, more modestly, doing the monthly Darkmoon Faire quest for +5 skill. Unfortunately the Faire reward applies to your highest tier first so if you have unfinished tiers above Classic you will have to cap those before it will apply to Classic.

Does Classic do profession quests at the Faire? Seems pretty not-vanilla to me.

I do recall that 300 was restricted to those who could do Dark Iron mining and smelting, an epic inconvenience without guild support.

I am reasonably sure he is asking about the Classic tier of Retail WoW Mining, rather than Mining in Classic WoW. Back in Classic, there was indeed no Faire quest but you could also skill up to 300 quite easily on Rich Thorium.
