Classic Just hit 7,803,311 active characters

wow classic has just seen a hit of over 7.5 million players… yes that’s right 7 Million.

BFA hit 4 million active subs worldwide so if we assume that those 4 million BFA accounts are playing classic than we have almost grown by 4 million new subs just from classic.

BFA did not have 4 mil subs when classic was released, and 1 character doesn’t = 1 sub.

I’ve got 6 classic characters just on my own with all my friends having similar numbers.

I’d be a little less excited about using meaningless data that doesn’t factor in alts.

Players have multiple characters.

And with free transfers, some characters are probably getting double counted.

While I do think, at least at the moment, classic is more popular than BFA, the other guy beat me to it. Character =/= Player

We shall see if it remains so in the long run. The real question will be when the next expansion come out since it looks like Blizzard is just moving on with BFA.

That is deff a possibility since it just creates a copy of the character on the new destination server while the old one stays.

Their /who addon counts your character on your old realm.

After the transfer, their /who addon counts your character on the new realm.

Yeah so it’s probably double dipping then.

I have 43 characters created across a few realms. Mainly due to switching to a newer low population server but I kept my old names on the previous ones.

Yeah as everyone else has stated. Characters is not the same as Subscriptions.
