Classic + is the only way, doing TBC and onward would be horrible!

Ok, let me just put my opinion here like another drop of water to this ocean. If Blizzard is taking notes, well, here is mine:

Pandas are ridiculous, obnoxious, out of place, immersion breaking ambulant player toon menaces. I don’t mean to offend no one who likes the race, plays a panda, especially not those who like their lore. That I can give a pass. Please just ignore me, It’s not personal. Try to understand, as I will explain more.
Blizzard, don’t give me that crap “there was pandas planned since earlier Warcraft or so”. It began as an inside office joke and made WoW, not a parody, but a corrosive satire of itself. Botched the image of the game. Oh, but WoW always had a wacky sense of humour. Yes! That is part of the game, a little charm. But you didn’t say anything about goblins introduced as a playable race in Cataclysm, and they’re ludicrous as Scrooge McDuck, oh yeah, but there are boundaries. Goblins were present since Warcraft ii, with the very same idiosyncrasies. I quit WoW because of MoP. I didn’t even watch the movie at the cinema at the time because I was disappointed. No, I was very noobish back then, didn’t have much clue about game mechanics and wasn’t affected by it as people are saying they were right now with the advent of Cataclysm. My personal bad blood is with the pandas. You could have followed an Elder Scrollesque path, made humans with slant eyes, a strange subtype of elf, humanoid dragons (take a clue from Square), why not? It would appease the chinese market you were so eager to please. I don’t understand how a stupid thing like that is supposed to be a compliment. Is this cultural misunderstanding of mine? Dude, I live in a melting pot of cultures, right at the border between Brazil and Uruguay, had many interactions with chinese migrants, I bet an arm they wouldn’t be sympathetic to this, just find it dumb and stereotypical. Not racist, no, just dumb. Why not monkeys looking like the Planet of the Ape humanoids? For God’s sake, JOURNEY TO THE WEST.
Death to Kung-fu Panda. /rant

So, as for my opinion I’m fine with: 1-Classic+, 2- TBC then WoTLK ending, 3- going a new route like a true parallel game universe WoW (seems like a exciting prospect if you do your best to align the playerbase wishes) or 4- just mere sad stagnation. Classic brought back what I wanted, WoW being true to it’s origins. I may sound like just a panda colossal hater, but these new expansions were full of baits, to say that is an understatement. All the hype for the Garrosh’s time travel, could have split realities, theories here and there frustrated, Sylvannas goes cuckoolander because it was written so (no truly good reasons), etc. The lore since Cataclysm began to decay and so did the game mechanics. Thankfully you heard the community and gave us Classic servers. Let us follow a new path and I ask kindly, hear us and ask for advice from the old guys retired from the office. Many veterans re-created Classic as it is stated in your propaganda, re-hire old Blizz staff, double their paycheck if needed (believe me, we will pour in like ants into candy and raise your profits by a huge margin, there’s no loss), fill them in the situation, show them the customer feedback. In order to advance, this time we all need to go back.

Why am I saying that I want TBC servers in a thread telling Blizzard not to make TBC servers?

This seems fairly obvious.

He’s scared that once people have the option of leaving classic behind he won’t have anyone to corpse camp.

I’m pretty sure they’ll end up releasing other expansions. What happens in a couple years when literally everyone on Classic is capped, geared, and cleared AQ? The game literally has an ending at that point. There is also DEFINITELY a crowd (including myself) that would be super in for the expacs. Not everyone got to experience killing the Lich King with a raid. I missed out on raiding in MoP, WoD, and Legion. I’d like the eventual chance to be a part of that.

Also I think it’s important to remember that people have likely left because of Writing as much as anything else; For a chunk of the game’s existance the horde was saddled with a deeply unpopular warchief, then had one that was basically a placeholder for another one and finally one that cast aside all of the subtlety and nuance that people liked about them in favor of twirling that mustache as hard as possible.

And you know what? They could have done that and gotten away with it if they had used it to contrast the strengths and weaknesses of Sylvanas and Anduin; Sylvanas’s cold practicallity made her an exceptional general and strategist since she understood that war is about numbers (troops, losses, territory, supplies, time tables, etc) and not ideology but that ideology is what makes someone a good ruler. By contrast, Anduin would be a great king in peace time since he has a skill for diplomacy and concerns for the common folk, but he lacks the stomach for war or the force of will to maintain order within the alliance.

But rather then explore these two intrinsic flaws, the writing team decided to have sylvanas be a mid boss for the expansion (ensuring another round of warchief roulette) and let the alliance continue to be defined by their staunch dedication to the values of GOOD and NICE.

That’s the stuff that bugs me the most; the fact that blizz gets these amazing idea’s for storylines and then pisses them away for whatever is easiest.

Everyone in this thread is acting like it is hard to discern what makes WoW Classic so great. There are easy to see core mechanics that make it special, they are a lot of the same mechanics that made EQ so special and stand out. As long as those core mechanics are maintained, developing for Classic+ won’t be difficult, because the core of what makes Classic so special is developers getting the hell out of the way of players and letting them make their own memories and adventures. Devs only need to supply the content that fuels community, that is IT.

I played on the EQ PVP Deity Server (Sullon Zek) as well as WoW beta/classic/tbc/wotlk. The memories I have from both games are not the content itself, but the adventures with friends and guild mates. These were adventures WE CREATED, not the developers. The developers supplied the content for us to be able to create our own stories.

in EQ, we had server wide drama, battling for bosses daily against two other deities. The bosses themselves weren’t difficult, but being able to control the zone for rights to the boss WAS difficult. And guess what, this was PLAYER driven. It created villains and heroes, alliances and rivalries. We had PVP groups who guarded entrances. We got creative an had people turn into Ogres simply to body block hallways from incoming Bards trying to train our raid.

In WoW Vanilla, we had similar adventures. Our guild built rivalries by blocking the horde from zoning into MC. We would mind control their key players into the lava, trying to stop progression. We sat with 40 people on top of the BWL orb so no one could click it and spammed AOE so no horde could get in and would instantly die if zoned out. We had epic battles for Lord Kazaak and Azuregos that would go on for HOURS.

PLAYER driven adventures, that is what makes a successful MMORPG and why BFA is garbage. Developers forgot about this core mechanic a few years after WoW and tried to continue innovating the MMORPG genre. If they held to that core principal, we would have been fine, but they didn’t. They pushed innovation and quality of life with no regard to how players are actually building community.

Keep the game hard, keep things challenging, continue to place things in the world that help fuel conflict and build community.

That is literally all they have to do. So stop acting like Classic+ is hard.

We’ve already experienced vanilla too…twice now. What the fck are you even talking about?

Your huge illogical rant is a waste of everyone’s time.

Would they? Blizzard has not done much lately to prove they can do well when given creative free will.

Burning Crusade is a known quantity and cheap and easy to make.

Classic+ is an unknown quantity and requires a full development team and classic+ fans cant even agree what Constitutes (+).

Yeah, but classic + is not classic is it? And ive seen plenty of classic+ fans asking for some of those same changes you claim they hate.

And that is fine, but do you honestly trust actiblizz to be creative? Look at recent history. Warlords. Battle for Azeroth. Layering. The AP system. Class Pruning.

Not sure how you can see all that and know what a crap hole retail is right now and sit there and tell yourself “blizzard should design new content for classic”.
I wonder why Omar said that classic + could be a thing… at this point im not sure what you want…

again, ask for TBC… but dont try to impose your wants for TBC, and state that is the next step for classic, thats classic or if anything should be added, new content, or classic +
Because they are leaving their options open.
Make no mistake though, you cant sit here and say tbc leads to retail, while at the same time claiming the same company who got creative and made retail should get creative and make classic+. The irony of such a statement knows no bounds.

And despite youre allegations otherwise, the majority of that support is not from private server players.

Yeah youve seen where tbc goes. Growing subs.
Classic + is an unknown quantity and you are asking the same blizzard that got creative and made BFA to make it. hypocrisy.

What is it about the base that is kicking and screaming for additional content and Blizz’s current mandates that makes you think Classic+ won’t be a disaster?

They foolishly believe that because OSRS has been a supposed “massive success” that the same thing would/could happen here. Sorry but I don’t trust the player base OR the devs at Blizzard to know what is good for the game.

The vast majority of changes and features added to the game have been people who begged/whined/QQ’d/raged on the forums to get them. And Blizzard caved as they have done time and time again…the fact that these people now think that the very same player base are trustworthy when it comes to a vote is incredibly stupid. Same when it comes to the devs…they’ve proven to us many times over that they have lost touch with the players on what is fun or good for the game

Like seriously, if you go back to classic discussions from 2004 people are whining endlessly about the cycle of balance patches and how finally (there) class got a buff and (other) class desperately needs to be nerfed.

LOL yeah that would be Blizzard buffing/nerfing classes one after another in an effort to manipulate players into rolling other classes in an effort to equalize class populations…any one class that fell in participation numbers got the next buff…etc and round and round we went with who was the new FOTM for a VERY long time

I said it dropped to 1 million or below now because of features implimented in wotlk. Learn to read

You’ve said a lot of things and ignored basically everything that show’s your demonstrably wrong.

As I’ve said earlier…he dismisses anyone who doesn’t agree with him and refuses to listen to counterpoints and arguments against his statements. It’s an echo chamber at this point with only him, Aurora, and a select few others. Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if he and Aurora were the same account. They both have a major problem with spelling and grammar…spelling “which” as “wich” etc.

Which is part of the reason I haven’t changed my toon to my classic one as one of the local hipsters insulted me over; I don’t want to give the impression that I’m sockpuppeting for additional support.

the only one failing to understand anything here is you. you want blizzard to impliment features in wow that would hurt iti all over again. flying, LFG, heirlooms, among other things. you simply dont care about the health of this game. you want it to be your way, and your way has already proven to be a failure.

You Project harder then IMAX while simultaneously ignoring that the things you cry about were immensely popular at the time that they were introduced.

So who is it that actually cares about the health of the game?

majority of people who quit wow agree LFG was bad. stop being delusional, typical retail baby.
