Having the easy version has all the downsides, they are all very obvious.
The point alone of keeping it as difficult as possible will allow for it to effectively last longer, which is a good thing like you said.
If people play classic and beat it…there’s no more content so it’s either reroll a new hero or just go back to the version that keeps getting new content.
I agree.
I still fail to se why people would be against this - even Blizzard.
Is there an argument against this post? I fail to see one.
I have to give you credit, Darem. Not many are capable of creating as many accounts and alts as you have and continued to talk to themselves for as long as you have.
Quite impressive!
Any chance you could bring up patch note changes for any raid bosses over the years? That is what I’m more interested in. I tried, but couldn’t really find anything concrete other than bug fixes. Having trash respawn quicker in dungeons isn’t a hot topic for me one bit either.
Even if they weren’t ninja nerfed (any there were TONS), they were indirectly nerfed via catch up gear, threat changes, talent revamps - etc. All in patch notes.
And you don’t understand the point being made.
You say “as unforgiving as possible”
Ok, that means its unplayable so clearly you can’t have intended that
Maybe something along the lines of just BARELY playable which wouldnt be my or many’s classic experience.
So its kind of a hazy line right? theres no idea exactly what they should tune or how much, if they end up overtuning it people complain “REALLY??? you just had to go and ruin the one good thing you ever made by making it unplayable?” undertuning gives the same just the complaints are given different mouths.
What WOW offered was not a hardcore experience, it was a casual experience that was embraced in a hardcore fashion. This was a design philosophy, to be casual. You will see the same in Classic.
Blizzard wants to keep their hands off and for good reason. This is a recreation of an old game. If that old game is too easy for you, then hold off playing it! Maybe in a couple years there will be a Classic+ for you to sink your teeth into, but its completely unfair to all of the players that want CLASSIC and not CLASSIC+ to buff old content
Galdors alt?
Jokes aside. Thanks for your post man.
You say “as unforgiving as possible”
If you would have read my initial post you would have had all the answers to this post
I.e my statement “as unforgiving as possible” is only within the capacity of earlier patches, which is also stated.
Use earlier patches to create the best 1.12 patch possible, that’s all we are saying who are advocating for this thread.
Patch 1.13 is already a frankenpatch since there are many huge differences already in current WoW classic that weren’t there in the original 1.12. Hence why the “slippery slope” argument does not hold.
In the end, everyone who is passionate of WoW vanilla want the game to last (as long as possible - which ofcourse wont be forever). We all love the game, ofcourse coming from that position we want the best patch possible in terms of challenge and longevity. This due to the lack of patch progression.
I agree. I think it’s unfortunate that we’re stuck with this particular patch, which was preceded by many nerfs to content and buffs to classes. Kinda disappointing. Even if they just cherry picked a few things they do have from older patches, it’d be a good thing imho.
For example, old alterac valley.
I’m not you, I don’t feel the necessity to support my positions with a dozen characters on multiple accounts.
Sound reasoning. Thanks for your input man.
It is disappointing, but it isn’t that bad because it means less farming for consumables.
I’ll get back to you on that man, for sure.
All can be found on Wowwiki.
Here are a few (not all) selected raid nerfs from each patch:
Patch 1.3
Onyxia
- Increased the delay before Onyxia will try to tail sweep.
Patch 1.5
- The eruptions from the lava in Ragnaros’s Lair will now always happen while Ragnaros is in combat. However, these lava eruptions occur less frequently, do less damage, and the damage they inflict is now resistible.
Patch 1.8
Blackwing Lair
- There is no longer a one-hour time restriction on the Vaelastraz the Corrupt encounter in Blackwing Lair.
Patch 1.10
Temple of Ahn’Qiraj
- Lowered the amount of knockback dealt by Giant Tentacles.
- Tentacles should no longer spawn on players who have just been knocked back by a previous tentacle.
There are many more.
This is also only taking into account direct raid nerfs.
Not commenting on nerf to;
- Threat
- Block
- Gear (buffed gear)
etc…
How is that a good thing for the games longevity in your opinion?
So wouldn’t we be able to handle the harder version without issue. So why not have it?? Back then the nerfs left it still difficult for the average player. Now the average player is much better
I never said it was a good thing, but it isn’t going to do too much harm to the game.
We sure would.
I still (in my opinion) have not seen any valid arguments against this post.
Blizzard has a 1.12 client in Irvine. They aren’t giving us even that.
What we are getting instead is a game with the rulesets of Vanilla from a time when years of buffs went to players and nerfs went to the npcs, a game where the itemization was overhauled for the streamlined class/raid design meta of the next expansion, and a game that’s scripted differently enough than the original that mechanics don’t play like the original despite having the original ruleset (more or less), and whatever layering is mashed all on top of it.
I like how when Classic was announced the guy was talking about ice cream and he said he like’s cookies and cream, then he dramatically says something like and some people like vanilla. This is more like butterscotch swirl with malt ball toppings.
