Classic Is Coming Sooner Than We Think - Hear Me Out

Idk man I have about as much faith in the July 16th teaser as I do in finally getting that cake from GLaDoS

So they’re going to announce the official release date of Classic WoW during Passover?

Pro-tip: Gaming companies lie and give false information. Summer 2019 can turn into 2020 real quick. Remember playing Starcraft: Ghost?

As much as I would love for Classic to launch like right now, July 16th is probably what we’re going to get. I believe that’s their “target” date, and why the whole Osconty/July bit from Blizzcon seems like a pretty clever way of unofficially announcing a tentative release date without actually committing. (For whatever reason)

But they did say summer, which means this could be early as June. Well, that’s not exactly long from now. I’m not exactly sure how much more hype they can generate. What, a BG rollout announcement? More info on sharding? RCR details?

Come on, we all know what we really want to hear.

Will there be a beta? (Which I actually hope they have to let the tourists take a test drive before release. Think about that one for a minute.)
When is release? (Which I hope they announce soon so I can plan my vacation, like a lot of other people.)

Look toward August where secrets lay

But you can actually visit the cake room.

April 1st release would be amazing.

A lot of what the OP says doesn’t align with reality. Firstly, you can forget about stock prices having any impact on the classic timeline. The company doesn’t consider classic a major release and stated as much on a recent investor call. Secondly, the changes they’ve announced recently, including the content plan, are likely to increase rather than decrease the workload. It’s easier to release one version of the game than amend it over time. Clearly they’ve been releasing information recently to build hype for the announcement likely coming in the next few weeks. That announcment is likely to include a limited beta and a release date in August.

They’re going to release it inbetween 8.2 and 8.2.5 or when they have any competition incoming from non Activision sources.

It’s blizzard SOP for the last 12 years to compete with new releases from other sources.

aka around July 2nd for Shadowbringers. Meaning June 25th, July 2nd, and July 9th are likely target dates.

Why not? Blizzard is a business, not a temple or church.

I’m sorry but they won’t drop it until 8.2 content has had time to be exhausted. We’re looking at june/July release.

Last two wow expansions released in August 14th to 30th area as well by the way so if they’re looking to release a game a year that would be probably the latest they’d release it. This would also give us four months to enjoy tier one until blizzcon new live expansion info drop

Alpha release sometime in summer.

This. If the looky loos want just a look see. Why not have a month long open beta? That could possibly weed out quite a few of the tourist types before launch. Possibly keeping sharding out of even the starting zones. We just don’t know.

Why would they? No one can say for sure what is going to happen when they flip that switch. We may just have the 2nd coming of wow on our hands. Sub wise that is. It may just reach what the industry considers a successful sub based mmo. It could fall on it’s face. We really have no way of knowing until we kick the tires and light the fires. Heck these “tourists” may fall in love and become residents.
This may even be blizz devs trying to protect classic from the suits and their greed. If they said Classic will be a smash hit the next question will be “How much extra can we squeeze out of it with mtx?” Or “what’s the secondary cash services plan look like?”
Yea. No. Let em downplay it and be surprised or not. We will see come launch.

My bet is on August . They release major expansion and stuff in August .

You missed where the forums had a riot because their content release plan was too squished and placing things like DM Kaz and Azuregos into the first phase would have messed up the loot table because of the quality of gear that DM has, having many best in slot DPS items well through BWL and ZG being replaced in AQ.

Now
They dont have to “do” anything other than debug the instances for them. Everything is done really so the “workload” of any given thing is up in the air because who knows the condition of it? It could really be quite quick or already even done because the dungeons would take less time than the ENTIRE world I would think.

I know I would do it that way
Go through the dungeons and individual smaller maps first with a small in-depth team and knock them out quickly because the WORLD had —so— many more changes to it over the course of WoW’s history thats where I assume the bulk of their work has been.

All that said.
they arent going to release it early
Blizz never releases things early. Nice pipe dream tho.

i have reason to believe pal so your wrong

I think you might be right here
I just hope they release it after my birthday so I can go party in peace for it and come back fresh and shiny and rock

hey man do you know when the beta test will be?

Thats some interesting guess work.

My gut feeling is that Blizzard is making sure things are polished and are very concerned about getting it right.

They are dealing with a very rabid, experienced and educated player base. If one little thing isn’t exactly like Vanilla there will be tantrums.

Because of that, I think they will release it when its ready and when the timing is right. That could coincide with a bigger patch for retail, it would make sense to do that.
